Develop Strategic Plan“Targets not Goals” Goals and targets are often confused with each other. They both describe things that a person may want to achieve or attain but in relative terms may mean different things. Both are desired outcomes of work done by a person but what sets them apart is the time frame, attributes they're set for and the effect they inflict.
District has Goals but no documented short term or long term targets.
Develop Strategic Plan with Long Term Targets
Ex. By Fall 2012, Math performance of MAP test will increase by 2% for elementary and 3% for Middle and High School
Begin Data mining to see where we are deficient
Any successful strategic plan that includes rewards for student learning must focus on student growth, not just proficiency.
Growth Initiative :
Growth Initiative The Census Bureau estimated the population of Raymore as 17,703 as of July 1, 2008. This is a 59 percent increase over the 2000 population of 11,146 and a 2.7 percent increase over the 2007 population of 17,238.
Why are the Middle schools and High school operating and 96% capacity?
The Proposed .80/3.6 million dollar levy (April Ballot) will offset increased expenses and continue to maintain a quality education program for students.
Is a tax levy/Bond Issue always the answer? (Note: I will vote in favor for the increase)
Work with City Hall Community Development Department to author a district Growth Initiative that coincides with their Growth Management Plan
Raymore is growing even in these tough economic times. We have to look for Alternative Development/growth Strategies for the district
Research Public Private Partnerships as a Tax/Bond alternative
Used widely in discussions about school construction and may describe a variety of agreements between a private business and a government entity to provide some type of public service
Construct-Leaseback - District sell assets (typically excess land), developer builds school and leases back. Typically over 20-25 years
District maintains cash flow
Administrators can concentrate on education not construction and maintenance
Personal Progress Plan :
Personal Progress Plan In collaboration with parents and school faculty, the Progress plan would include emphasis such as: Activity involvement (inside and outside school), community service, career and post secondary planning and enrollment planning that align with the plan
Every student will have a Personal Adult Advocate to help him or her personalize the educational experience.
Teachers will be adept at acting as coaches and facilitators to promote more active student involvement of students in their own learning.
The school will accord meaningful roles in the decision-making process to students, parents, and members of the staff to promote an atmosphere of participation, responsibility, and ownership.
Teachers will convey a sense of caring to their students to that their students feel that their teachers share a stake in their learning.
The plan will ensure that the school takes individual needs into consideration and to allow students, within reasonable parameters, to design their own methods for learning in an effort to meet high standards.
Experiences in high school acknowledge multiple talents and ways of learning to help students achieve the meaningful success that leads to further achievement.
The high school will assess the academic progress of students in a variety of ways so that a clear and valid picture emerges of what they know and are able to do.
The school reviews each student's Personal Progress Plan continually and indicates the extent of progress toward graduation and post secondary transition plans.
