Slide 1:

Mountain Region States and Capitals On each slide is the name of a state. There are also photographs that represent the capital for that state. Try to guess the capital’s name based on the picture and text clues. Then click on the picture of the state to find out the name of the capital. Click the purple arrows to get to the next slide. Throughout the slideshow there will also be clues to help you remember which capital goes with which state.

Slide 2:

Colorado He is sitting in the den.

The capital of Color a do is Den ver. He is sitting in the den. Do you color in the den ?

Idaho You see with your eyes. This is a boy .

Slide 5:

The capital of Ida ho is Bo ise. This is a hobo (put the end of Ida ho with the beginning of Bo ise). You see with your eyes. This is a boy .

Montana This is Mount St. Helen s.

Slide 7:

The capital of Mont a na is Hele na . This is Mount St. Helen s. The word Montana is kind of like the word mountain . When you hear Mont ana, think mount ain, then think Mount St. Helen s, which should make you think of Helen a. Monta na and Hele na also end the same.

Nevada This is Carson . This is a city .

The capital of Nev ada is Carson City . Carson has nev er been to the city. This is Carson . This is a city .

Utah This is salt . This is a lake . This is a city .

Slide 11:

The capital of Utah is Salt Lake City. This is salt . This is a lake . This is a city .

Wyoming This is Cheyenne .

Slide 13:

The capital of Wy oming is Chey enne. Chey enne and Wy oming sound the same at the beginning. Why is she shy ? This is Cheyenne .
