Chemical bonding power point :

Chemical bonding power point By: Kyle Morgan

Hemoglobin :

Hemoglobin is the iron-containing oxygen transport metalloproteinase in the red blood cells of vertebrates, and the tissues of some invertebrates. It helps protein your red blood cells. www.clarian.org/ADAM/doc/CancerCenter/2/19510.htm en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hemoglobin

How is hemoglobin important in the transport of oxygen in our bodies? :

How is hemoglobin important in the transport of oxygen in our bodies? Hemoglobin is important to are body because it help protect are red blood cells. Hemoglobin have protein and iron in it which help red blood cells. wiki.answers.com/.../What_does_hemoglobin_in_red_blood_cells_do_to_help_the_circulatory_system http://www.tikirobot.net/wp/tag/hemoglobin/

Why is the transport of oxygen by hemoglobin a real-life example of chemical bonding? :

Why is the transport of oxygen by hemoglobin a real-life example of chemical bonding? There are two main types of blood substitutes are in development. which is just like chemical bonding because there are 2 different kinds. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hemoglobin-based_oxygen_carriers www.answers.com/topic/metabolism

How is hemoglobin related to a successful climb to the top of Mt. Everest? :

How is hemoglobin related to a successful climb to the top of Mt. Everest? It helps keeps oxygen going to your red blood cells so that you can keep on going and being able to go all the way to the top. Hemoglobin will help you also because you would loss but because of Hemoglobin it helps you go longer. www.chemcollective.org/applets/everest/everest.pdf http://alpineinstitute.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html

What does pH have to do with the transport of oxygen by hemoglobin? :

What does pH have to do with the transport of oxygen by hemoglobin? Hemoglobin helps lower your pH since Iron(III) has an odd number of electrons, and thus must have one or more unpaired electrons. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hemoglobin

What is blood doping? :

What is blood doping? Blood doping is when you are adding red blood cells so that you can have more energy for what ever sport you are doing. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood doping http://graphics8.nytimes.com/images/2006/02/19/sports/olympics/20drug_graph.gif

What is the difference between antilogous and homologous blood doping? :

What is the difference between antilogous and homologous blood doping? homologous blood doping is when it is a donor and going in to you and a antilogous is when red blood cells are harvested then go into you at the big event. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood doping repairstemcell.wordpress.com/tag/blood/

What is EPO and why is it used? :

What is EPO and why is it used? Epo stands for Erythropoietin. EPO is a glycoprotein hormone that controls erythropoietin, or red blood cell production in your body. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erythropoietin

What are the medical uses of blood doping? :

What are the medical uses of blood doping? Some of the reasons why they used blood doping for medical because it was treatment of anemia resulting from renal failure or cancer chemotherapy. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood doping www.wellsphere.com/wellpage/epo-uses

Why is blood doping used in sport? :

Why is blood doping used in sport? Blood doping was used in sports because it cam you more inderence to keep on running and to go at a faster speed. Lassa Virden got with blood doping in the Olympics. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_doping#Military_use http://www.sporting-heroes.net/files_athletics/VIREN_Lasse_19800727_GH_L.jpg

Provide 1 documented example of blood doping used in sport :

Provide 1 documented example of blood doping used in sport American cyclist Tyler Hamilton is facing the loss of his Olympic gold medal in the cycling time trial because two separate blood tests suggested that he might be guilty of "blood doping." Hamilton, who has up to now enjoyed a squeaky-clean image, denies the charge. http://www.slate.com/id/2107096/ www.bicycle.net/2008/hamilton-rock-racing-fig... Provide a 2nd documented example of blood doping in sport

Provide a 2nd documented example of blood doping in sport :

Provide a 2nd documented example of blood doping in sport Now I'm helping Ross, actually. It is possible that blood doping has in fact a lower impact on swimming because this sport though very aerobic, does not allow you to ventilate your lungs properly. Backstroke is also affected, to some degree. If anything, count the time spent underwater during the turn phase. In general, the more you try to breathe, the less efficient you get, so you win power but in the same time you drop on efficiency. To gain anything from the extra oxygen-carrying capacity of the blood, you need to breathe more air into your lungs, and that can be a problem. There might not be any incentive for swimmers to get ridiculously high hematocrit even though they could probably get away with it. http://www.sportsscientists.com/2008/11/swimming-vs-athletics.html www.wallpaperbase.com/.../swimming_2.jp

What are the side effects of blood doping? :

What are the side effects of blood doping? Lets start with blood doping is not a great thing to do because it can cause an increase in the chances of heart attack, stroke, and pulmonary embolism. Along with infections in the whole body. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_doping repairstemcell.files.wordpress.com/2009/02/bl...
