A Guide to Making a Smooth Transition From Microsoft Outlook to G o o g l e Apps

What is NOT Available in Gmail :

Offline access -- Your computer must be connected to the Internet to use Google Mail. Message alerts -- You'll no longer see a message "snippet" in the lower-right corner of your desktop when a new message arrives. Message flags (such as Important and Follow-up) -- However, you can use stars and labels to highlight messages in your Inbox. Column sorting -- You can't sort messages by clicking the column headings in your Inbox. However, you can use Gmail search options to list messages in order according to sender and date. What is NOT Available in Gmail

Not Available in Gmail Con’t…:

Message recall -- If you send a message that you wish you hadn't, you can't recall it to prevent recipients from opening it. <<applies only if not enabling Google Mail Labs, which has Undo Send feature>> Read/Return receipts -- There's no option to get a notification when a recipient opens your message. View options -- You can't change the placement of the reading/preview pane or move any components in the Mail window. To Schedule a Meeting…:

Open Google Calendar. Do one of the following: Option 1 – In the upper left of the calendar, click CREATE EVENT to open the event details page. To Schedule a Meeting… Option 1 :

Option 2 – Click a spot on the calendar to create a 1-hour event, or click & drag to create an event of more than 1 hour. Type event title in the box. To Schedule a Meeting… Click CREATE EVENT to immediately publish the event, or click EDIT EVENT DETAILS to continue setting up the event. Option 2 :

Enter details such as – recurrence, attendees, an agenda, and a reminder. Click SAVE. To Schedule a Meeting…

Enter Meeting Details :

If you have already scheduled and published your meeting, you can edit the details by clicking the title of the meeting on your calendar: Enter Meeting Details Note: Once you've finished entering meeting details, click Save at the bottom of the meeting details page.

Invite Meeting Attendees :

Open the meeting link. Click the FIND A TIME tab. Invite Meeting Attendees

Please Note!!!:

You can add a group (mailing list) address to the attendees list, if your administrator set up groups for your domain. Or, you can create your own contact group in your personal contact. Click Contacts at the top of your Calendar window. If you copy and paste an attendee list from another source (for example, a document), make sure you separate each address with a comma (semicolons are not supported). Please Note!!!
