APPROACHING A NEW HIGH SCHOOL SITE CONTEMPORARY SCHOOL OF MATH AND SCIENCE

SITE : 

SITE A pedestrian oriented city with plazas, parks, reviving the original residential nature of the area. Midtown, Houston A Cities Vision Site Issues Midtown after 1990 comprised of vacant land, boarded up buildings, few single family residences and few businesses. The area has been married by lack of direction and very little cohesiveness.

The school is organized around separate groups of four classrooms each. Fosters team teaching and creates a more intimate environment, where students are moving between classes in smaller clusters. Design approach (2) addressed all design concepts. The carves out the site to promote movement on the site as well as within the structure. The site also functions as a public park. The structure functions as shelter for park visitors
