Welcome! This is the first class of ESL Digital Storytelling at MiraCosta College. And … Discussed and practiced (through mini writing/presentation and tech assignments) How to use concrete words to make stories vivid and descriptive How to find synonyms How to recognize and use figures of speech (metaphors, similes, personification) to convey an idea

And … How music and sound effects can augment a story How using one’s voice can enhance a story (rhythm, pacing, stress, intonation, volume, silence) How a picture can tell a story How to use images and colors to symbolize abstract ideas, feelings, moods
