Slide27:

ELECTROPHILES NUCLEOPHILES Electrophiles are electron deficient species. They are attracted towards negative charge. They attack electron rich centre of the substance. These are lewis acids(electron pair acceptors) These are cations or molecules having electron deficient atoms. Eg . H+, NO2+, BF3, AlCl3, etc Nucleophile are electron rich species. They are attracted toward positive charage . They attack electron deficient centre of the substrate. Theses are lewis bases.(electron pair donor) These are anions or molecules containing atoms with at lease one lone pair of electron. Eg . OH-, CN-, H2O, NH3, R-O-H etc.
