Introduction :

Introduction The events of September 11th, 2001, took the lives of approximately 3,000 people in New York and Washington, D.C.. These events also affected the lives of tens of millions around the world. Many of us know where we were, who we were with, and other details of that morning. As much as we think that we will remember everything about that day, we won’t. This CD-ROM will help us to remember the events of that day. The only thing more important than remembering that day for ourselves is to never forget that day for all of those whose lives were lost. G. Gougler – 5/2002

September 11th Timeline Cont. :

September 11th Timeline Cont. The purpose of this CD-ROM is to document the tragic history that occurred on September 11, 2001. Unfortunately, documented history is not always pleasant to see. Thousands of people’s mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, coworkers, and friends lost their lives that day; many of those chose to end their lives by leaping from windows from the WTC knowing that they would not survive. We owe it to these victims to put ourselves in their situation. Can you possibly imagine the desperation that these people felt? What would you have done? Left-click on on the file name to play the video clip, close box when finished. If you wish to skip the video, press the space bar. movies\WTC - Jump.mpg

Father Judge had been kneeling, giving the last rites to a firefighter who had been killed by a falling body. Because the 68-year old chaplain’s body was the first to be released from Ground Zero, his death certificate bore the number 1. (LIFE, “One Nation…)

Bob Graham, D-Florida, chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, says he was "not surprised there was an attack (but) was surprised at the specificity." The attacks occurred at 2:30 a.m. local time. Afghanistan is believed to be where bin Laden, who U.S. officials say is possibly behind Tuesday's deadly attacks, is located. U.S. officials say later that the United States had no involvement in the incident whatsoever. The attack is credited to the Northern Alliance, a group fighting the Taliban in the country's ongoing civil war. These are the faces of some of the passengers that were aboard Flight 93. It is believed that these husbands, fathers, brothers, uncles, and friends were the leaders of an attack on the hijackers of that flight. Many passengers aboard the plane that day were alerted by cell phone calls which relayed the events that had unfolded on board the other hijacked airplanes. It is speculated that the White House was the intended target of the hijackers. These hijackers failed, they failed thanks to the brave heroics of the passengers of Flight 93. These men gave us our first victory in the war against terrorism. Remember their faces every time that you look at the White House.

The folded American flag on the stretcher symbolized all of those who were never recovered. It was later followed by a flatbed truck that carried the last 50-ton steel column from the site. It was draped with a black shroud. Below are some facts regarding the cleanup. 2,823 killed. 1,102 victims identified. 195,000 body parts recovered. Number of broken hearts = infinite.
