Handwriting Activity Interview a parent on their Exercise activities How many days a week do you exercise? How long do you exercise at a time? What kind of exercises do you use? What is your favorite exercise? What is your least favorite exercise? Do you like to exercise alone or with a group?

Manipulative center:

Manipulative center Spend 5 minutes at each station with the exercise equipment provided. 1. Jump Ropes 2.Hula Hoops 10. Bring your own bike to ride 3.Weight Scale & Height 9. Big Ball Bounce 4. 3 legged race 8. Basketball Dribble 5. Sack Race 7. Hop scotch 6. 2 pound weight lift

Circle time:

Circle time In your group of 5 create an exercise routine that is approximately 10 minutes of Fun! Be creative!

Literacy Activity Read a book and create your own mini story:

Literacy Activity Read a book and create your own mini story As a class read the book “Oh the Things You Can do That are Good for You! “ Talk about what ideas the book had given as ideas. Create your own ideas and write a mini story that would be fun to exchange with others in the class to read!

Math & Science activities This will take place during the manipulative centers:

Math & Science activities This will take place during the manipulative centers As students transition through the 10 activities each partner group will be recording results for the following: Calories burned in a 5 minute period performing that activity. Students will be given a chart of the activities and the calories burned in a certain time period and they must calculate based on that information. Students will determine their weight in pounds with the scale provided. Students will determine their height in inches with the scale provided. Students will use the wrist and finger method to determine their heart rate for each activity they perform.

Songs to Encourage exercise Discussion & Create your own Song Songs that encourage movement: “Get up offa that thing” “Jump Around” Now Make your own song that would encourage your classmates to get up and exercise! Make up your Lyrics Think of what sound your song would go with

Art Activity Sketch & Color :

Art Activity Sketch & Color Create a picture that would show you doing your favorite form of exercise and if you like to exercise as a group be sure to show that in your drawing as well!

Dramatic act Activity :

Dramatic act Activity The talent show is a great place to show off your dancing skills and get your exercise all at once! Dancing is a great way to get your exercise and have fun! As a group create a dance that is 2 to 4 minutes long. Remember to pick a song to go with your dance Everyone must be moving and having fun!
