March, 11 2011. Japan was hit by a massive earthquake measuring 8.9 on the Richter scale. Followed by aftershocks and a devastating Tsunami. Last year Japan had 8.6 million visitors. Earthquakes:

Tornadoes are actually earning most from tourism. There are tours that take groups of people into Tornado Alley (Midwest America) to chase the storm. Tourist have the chance to witness real tornadoes on their paths of destruction. Feeling the winds, hail, and debris. Tornadoes:

In 2004, a gigantic earthquake hit off of the coast of Thailand and it caused a series of deadly Tsunamis. The damage caused Thailand to lose half of their income from tourism. Tsunami:

Floods are the deadliest Natural Disaster. Queensland, Australia (the size equivalent of state of Alaska)- The entire city flooded. Potential profit loss is a whopping $4 billion from the tourism industry. Flooding:

Herculaneum and Pompeii- These two ancient Roman cities were destroy in 79 AD but the eruption from Mount Vesuvius. Both civilizations unaware of this Volcano’s warning signs died frozen in their place. Today, these cities are tourists hotspots. Volcano Eruptions

Last year, the most controversial oil spill occurred in the Gulf of Mexico when a BP oilrig exploded and subsequently sprung a leaked. The affected areas were Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Florida. Alabama alone loss of 100 million dollars in tourist revenue. Oil Spills:
