Premium member Presentation Transcript Slide1: Window Restoration by Pella of Arkansas 2007 The Capital Hotel Slide2: The Capital Hotel project was a large scale restoration project that required a multitude of different solutions in order to preserve the historic look and feel of the hotel while providing modern window solutions that would be energy efficient and easy to maintain. Slide3: Pella of Arkansas was committed to working with the Historic Restoration Committee, the general contractor and the owners of the hotel to bring this great piece of Little Rock history back to its original grandeur. Slide4: Fixed Monumental Hung Fixed Monumental Hung with Transoms Archtop Monumental Hung Springline Monumental Hung Fixed Double Hung Sashes Due to the number of different window configurations used during the 1800’s construction of the Capital Hotel the following window styles were utilized:Insulshield IG: Black Spandrel insulated glass Insulshield IGTo preserve the look and feel of the building’s original architecture the stained glass panels were cut to fit Pella: To preserve the look and feel of the building’s original architecture the stained glass panels were cut to fit Pella monumental hung units then attached to the interior frame using wood stops.Original stained glass panels overlooking the balcony were seated behind new Pella transoms but were not sealed to them to allow for proper ventilation. : Original stained glass panels overlooking the balcony were seated behind new Pella transoms but were not sealed to them to allow for proper ventilation. Slide10: Sill Flashing – 1,440 feet Frame Expander – 3,540 feet Custom curve cuts on head Jambs cut to fit Detailed measurements & custom cuts done on-site Curved Frame Expander - 110 pieces Custom Brickmould – 650 pieces Brickmould clips - 120 feetSlide15: Deterioration was found in many of the openings and needed to be repaired by the General Contractor before the windows were installedSlide16: Intensive deterioration of replacement window sashes installed in 1997 Slide17: Pella of Arkansas commissioned experts from Pella Corporation to provide accurate field measurements and provide detailed drawings.Slide18: Due to time constraints, both the demolition and rebuilding the rough openings . . . was performed by the General ContractorDemo: Demo Slide20: Sections of the original brickmould were removed and sent to Pella Corporation to replicate the historic look from the 1800’s. On-time delivery of all 353 window units and installation supplies to the job site was coordinated from our centrally located warehouse in North Little Rock.: On-time delivery of all 353 window units and installation supplies to the job site was coordinated from our centrally located warehouse in North Little Rock.Slide22: Tight quarters and large window units required specialized plans for moving units efficiently into place prior to installation Units were first loaded on a lift, then raised to the appropriate floor, where they were wheeled to their designated room.
