What to do with notes from home :

What to do with notes from home Present notes upon arrival to class Put notes in housekeeping basket on teacher’s desk I will read and address them during morning housekeeping

Heading on assignments :

Heading on assignments Every paper you turn in should have the heading S-T-A-N-D If your paper does not “STAND” it will not be accepted. S-T-A-N-D is an acronym for: S -subject and period T - teacher A - assignment N - name D - date

Entering the classroom :

Entering the classroom Greet the teacher Enter the room quietly Sign in by placing homework in basket Get your materials Go directly to your seat Begin working on bell ringer

Restroom break :

Restroom break Refer to chart for hand code for reason to leave Use appropriate hand code Get appropriate pass for hall Put a “loose-recess” ticket in your mailbox Leave the room quietly

Feeling sick :

Feeling sick If you are suddenly ill If time, ask the teacher for a pass If no time, go directly to the restroom If you cannot make it to the restroom, please grab the waste basket on your way out Report back when you are done, to get a pass to the nurse’s office

Sharpening pencils Sharpen pencils before the tardy bell rings If during seatwork, only one student at a time Never during teacher presentations or whole class instruction

Throwing trash away Students are required to keep all trash on top of or under your desk, Depends on the size of the trash Discard at the end of class period Throw away on the way out the door

Use of calendar/agenda Each week, the lessons and topics for the week will be posted on the far corner of the board so students know what to expect. Ex : April 11-15 Mon . Chapter 8 The Origin of Genetics Exercise 8-1 pg.163(classwork) Hw . Questions 1-4 pg.17

Assigning textbooks Teacher will assign textbooks at the beginning of the year Student will give parents textbook responsibility card to sign Once the student bring back the card, the book will be issued

Housekeeping chores Each day students will have bell ringer work. This will give me a c hance to take care of beginning housekeeping chores; Read notes Have mini conferences if needed Check who’s turned in homework Prepare end of class housekeeping

Transition times from one class/activity to the next For middle school students changing classes is the routine In my class the procedures (rules) will remain constant for each class period Students leaving the class will clean desk and gather all belongings Students leaving an activity will put completed assignments in proper place
