Soil Conservation:

Soil Conservation The protection of soil from being washed away by eroding agents is called soil conservation . We can conserve soil by the following ways:- Terrace Farming (Cropping) Crop Rotation By Constructing Dams And Embankments Strip Cropping Contour Ploughing (Plantation)

Slide 3:

In this method, steps are made on the hills so that the flow of water slows down. Thus this method conserves the soil from the water flowing down the hills in the rains . TERRACE FARMING (CROPPING)

Slide 4:

CROP ROTATION To grow different crops on the same land is meant by Crop rotation. It helps in maintaining the fertility of soil, as each crop uses a different mineral to grow, like potato uses potash, wheat requires nitrates etc. So by crop rotation each mineral is used. YEAR 1 ROOT CROP YEAR 2 LEGUMES YEAR 3 WHEAT YEAR 4 TURNIPS YEAR 5 ROOT CROP

Slide 5:

If we construct dams & embankments along the river side we can conserve soil. As in the case of monsoons the river water crosses the danger level and causes flood and flood takes away the fertile soil with it. So by constructing dams we can conserve soil . BY CONSTRUCTING DAMS AND EMBANKMENTS

Slide 6:

In this method, cover crops such as grasses and small grains are planted alternatively with cultivated crops. This helps in absorbing the moisture and holding the soil particles together. Thus conserving the soil. STRIP CROPPING

Slide 7:

By this method the fields are ploughed, harrowed and sown along the natural contour of the hills. This helps the soil to absorb the water and prevents the soil from being washed away by the running water. CONTOUR PLOUGHING(PLANTATION)
