When ligaments or tendons or muscles get injured due to overuse or
accident they are called the soft tissue injuries represented as STI in
short. It is always a sudden happening which one cannot avoid as you
may see the reason for the cause. For instance you roll your ankle and
you develop pain. This is STI. You may even imagine getting hurt.
Overdoing on muscles and tendons without your knowledge leads to
STI. Therefore it is better to stop worrying about how it has happened
and right to know the treatment methods.
STI Symptoms
Soft tissue injury treatment can be efficiently given only when you
know the symptoms of the occurrence.
slide 2: You can understand the symptom first by undergoing a pain and
swelling soon after you had got hurt or even without reason. Excessive
swelling also is noticed accompanied by stiffness.
If the ligament tendons or muscle is poorly damaged then you can feel
the instability. This can be witnessed in the ankle knee and hip joints.
Recovery Time
It can take anywhere between one week and 12 weeks depending on the
severity of the damage. Also age gender and other health condition of
individual may influence the recovery time.
Best Treatment for STI
1. You must consult a medical practitioner to rule out a fracture. Then
you can take some mild medication as suggested by the doctor based on
the intensity of your pain.
2. It is good to take help from a physiotherapist for a cure on a long run.
Three Stages of STI Treatment
1. Within 72 hours one must get first aid and protect the injured area.
Get diagnosed and start making a mild movement.
2. Then work towards reducing the stiffness and swelling to get back to
normal movement.
3. Getting back to normal.
All these three can happen only if you keep yourself active. Based on the
input from the physiotherapist practice movement and stay mobile. Only
then it is possible for a speedy recovery.
Do and Dont for STI
Soon after injury do not panic and stretch beyond limits.

Do not massage any pain relief cream and just apply on the part to
see if the pain reduces.
You can try giving ice pack to the injured area.
Take sufficient rest and place the injured part in an elevated
manner to allow blood flow.
Try some mild painkiller.
Consult a doctor if the pain increases or sustains even after 24
hours.
