NERVOUS SYSTEM

PowerPoint Presentation:

Nervous system is the part of an animal’s body that coordinate the voluntary actions of the animal and transmits signals between different part of body. In other words it is a complex network of nerves and cells that carry messages to and from the brain and spinal cord to various parts of the body. DEFINITION

PARTS OF NERVOUS SYSTEM

PowerPoint Presentation:

The central nervous system acts as a command centre of the body. It interprets incoming sensory information, then sends out instructions on how the body should react. The central nervous system is mainly divided into two major parts: the brain and the spinal cord. THE CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM

PowerPoint Presentation:

Human brain is the only thing in the universe which is attempting to understand itself. Encephalology: The study of brain in all aspects is called encephalology. Location: The brain is situated in the cranial cavity of the skull. Size: The average human brain weighs from 1200 to 1400 grams. BRAIN

PowerPoint Presentation:

The  forebrain  is responsible for a variety of functions including receiving and processing sensory information, thinking, perceiving, producing and understanding language, and controlling motor function.  BRAIN

PowerPoint Presentation:

The   midbrain   and the hindbrain together make up the  brainstem . The midbrain is the portion of the brainstem that connects the hindbrain and the forebrain. This region of the brain is involved in auditory and visual responses as well as motor function. MIDBRAIN

PowerPoint Presentation:

The hindbrain extends from the spinal cord and is composed of the  metencephalon   and myelencephalon . The metencephalon contains structures such as the  pons  and  cerebellum . These regions assists in maintaining balance and equilibrium, movement coordination, and the conduction of sensory information. The myelencephalon is composed of the  medulla oblongata which is responsible for controlling such autonomic functions as breathing, heart rate, and digestion.  HINDBRAIN

PowerPoint Presentation:

The spinal cord is the main pathway for information connecting the brain and peripheral nervous system. The human spinal cord is protected by the bony spinal column shown to the left. The spinal column is made up of bones called vertebrae. Although the spinal column is somewhat flexible, some of the vertebrae in the lower parts of the spinal column become fused. SPINAL CHORD

PowerPoint Presentation:

The peripheral nervous system, or PNS, consists of the nerves and  ganglia outside of the  brain and  spinal cord . [1]  The main function of the PNS is to connect the central nervous system (CNS) to the limbs and organs. PERIPHIRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM
