Premium member Presentation Transcript Slide 1: Pros & Cons to Living on A Tight Budget & Still Making Good Health Choices By Kaitlin Pfister Slide 2: Money Affects nearly all aspects of our lives Slide 3: This includes the choices we make regarding our health Slide 4: Staying Healthy When Money’s Tight Can Be a Challenge Slide 5: In the last two years healthy food prices have risen 20% while high calorie junk food prices have remained the same or dropped Slide 6: A University of Washington study found a 2,000-calorie diet would cost just $3.52 a day if it consisted of junk food Slide 7: The same diet would cost $36.32 a day for a diet consisting of nutritious lower calorie foods Slide 8: FAST FOOD can be very tempting because it is so inexpensive BUT…….. Slide 9: Too Much Fast Food Can Lead to a number of deadly diseases like hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, heart disease, and even many types of cancers. Slide 10: Exposing children to fast food on a regular basis could lead to a life long struggle with health problems. Slide 11: How much does a lack of financial resources a impact obesity? Sit-ups, Push-ups, Yoga, Walking and Jogging are all Completely Free! Slide 39: To save money some people grow their own foods in a garden! This leads to people getting more fruits and vegetables in their diet. Slide 40: For every $1 you spend on seeds you can grow up to $75 dollars worth of vegetables!! Slide 41: A tight budget can help us focus on the simpler pleasures of life, spending less & looking for ways to be content in life. This can lead to lower stress levels.
