VoiceThread.com enables you to share any document you have—a Powerpoint slideshow, a Word document, a series of photos of people at your school—and then add audio, text, video comments. It enables you to have conversations about what you're sharing with your audience. You can pre-record your voice, record it online, call in with your mobile phone, and the possibilities are endless as to what you can use VoiceThread for. Pedagogy : Pedagogy Good for visual and auditory learner Digital publishing, creating, mixing, remixing Web 2.0 tool Can be used for instructor or student presentations Embedded in webpages or exported for offline viewing Adding your picture : Adding your picture Best to put some picture up that represents you You can build an Avatar: E.g. at http://avatarmaker.abi-station.com/index_en.shtml OR Upload your picture- directions to follow Adding your picture : Adding your picture Demonstration Information This will be used to represent you when you leave audio/text/video comments Select your picture or avatar, click Save then Done. Adding comments is the process for adding a narration Select Comment button Decide how you will comment: video, audio, text After you record, your avatar will be on the left side of the slide for all slides With each slide, your comments will be presented to the viewer Add Comments : Add Comments Using Voicethread : Using Voicethread Video/Audio Comment : Video/Audio Comment Web Cam Recording : Web Cam Recording Once recording starts, you can stop it at any time and redo. You can listen and view the video and delete and start over. The garbage can is for deleting. After you record, and you like what you have, make sure you save it. Click Save. Only select Cancel if you do not want what you made. Text Comments : Text Comments Narrating : Narrating You can make your audio comments your slide narration. There is not a time limit on the recording. You can use the pen and different colors to highlight points on the slide while presenting. Great tool to deliver content by presenting, describing and explaining. Students have anytime, anywhere access. Students can stop and start it as needed and replay the explanations as often as they need to develop understanding. Options : Options Select: Playback options (bottom, left screen) Decide on features you would want The following graphic shows the settings I have used in my Powerpoint presentations for students I do not allow exporting or to make a copy. It is up to you and want you want for your students and viewers. Options Graphic : Options Graphic Title : Title You will want to name your presentation by selecting the title option on the top right You can view all of the slides in your presentation by selecting the graphic on the lower right of the screen. See the following slide for graphics that demonstrate these actions. Again, the purpose of this is to enable you to save your VoiceThread as a movie you can store on your computer, upload to Edublogs.tv (online video/audio storage site for educators), YouTube, or GoogleVideo. Upload Pre-recorded Audio : Upload Pre-recorded Audio You can record audio using a recorder, convert it from WMA to MP3 format, and then edit it using Audacity sound editor. It gives you good control over the content. This makes it easy to create audio with special sound effects that you do not have online.
