Once upon a time… There was a first grade school teacher who wanted to take a challenge in order to increase student achievement in the classroom. She decided to enrolled in Black Hills State University to receive her Master’s Degree.
She was a very busy woman. :
She was a very busy woman. She rarely read for fun. For her day was filled with planning, instructing, assessing and analyzing. All for student achievement.
Everything she did was for her students. :
Everything she did was for her students. She read countless books about teaching practices and worked hard to make sure her students were on track for success.
She loved reading her “fav” books. :
She loved reading her “fav” books. The teacher’s favorite author was Joy Cowley. And enthusiastically taught reading and writing with Cowley’s work. Her students enjoyed it too!

Her students loved to read. The young teacher’s students read every day and their favorite part of the day was also the read aloud. They were as enthusiastic about reading as their teacher. Then they would practice Read to Self in order to become better readers!
The teacher also had a family. :
The teacher also had a family. After long hours in the classroom the teacher would come to her husband, 3 dogs and coop full of chickens. They would eat wonderful meals and talk about teaching.
The good life. :
The good life. The young teacher enjoyed her life and was happy with her life as a reader. She didn’t always read for “fun” but her priority was student achievement. The teacher, her students, her dogs and her handsome husband lived happily ever after!
