People go through life following all kinds of rules… : People go through life following all kinds of rules… They don’t question the rules… : They don’t question the rules… They get into habits and slavishly follow them. : They get into habits and slavishly follow them. Never daring to think what might happen if they strayed from normality. Here’s one rule people like to follow… : Here’s one rule people like to follow… Socks must match : Socks must match Slide 7: My socks match People who go through life with the socks-must-match rule are nice and normal. No-one really notices them. The world sees them as a matching-socks kind of person. Nobody’s boat gets rocked. Slide 8: Even though having to have socks that match can waste time in the morning. Or make you wonder if your washing machine is eating them. Slide 9: Who said socks have to match? Where did that rule come from? … and why are you living your life by it? What would happen if you wore odd socks? Yes, you’d save time in the morning….. and Slide 10: People might start to see you as an individual. Slide 11: You’d worry less about silly rules. Slide 12: You’d feel free to be you. Slide 13: People’s minds get troubled when rules that worked for them in the past become habits of the present. Or when they live their life by rules laid down by others. Habits like these lead to mental gridlock. Slide 14: When did you last stop and think about the habits that run your life?
