DINDIGUL DIVISION POSITION; Dindigul Forest Division was formed on 19.04.1982 East longitudes 770 13’ and 780 29’ North latitudes 100 0’ and 100 39’ Surrounded by Erode District in the North, Trichy District in the East, Madurai District in the South and Coimbatore District in the West.

Configuration; It comprises western Ghats and allied hills like palani hills, sirumalai hills,Alagar hills and Ayyalur hills. Rivers; Vaigai,Naganji,Kodaganar,Shanmuganadi and Naladhangi Geology; Archean system. Main rock types are 1.charkolite 2.kondalites

Soil; Red soil with high iron content is found soil on lower slope is residual,bouldary with poor growth Climate;

Tamilnadu hill areas preservation of trees act-1955 Purpose-To prevent tree cutting in hilly areas It was implemented in Kodaikanal municpal area, coonoor municipal areas, ooty municipal area and Yercaud panchayat area. According to this act a District committee is formed This committee meets once in two months.
