“If we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep. For this doctrine we communicate to you by the Word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord shall not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God; in fact, the dead in Christ shall rise first.” 1 Thessalonians 4:14-16

Introduction :

Resurrection of the Church 7 Introduction Jesus Christ was resurrected and ascended and is now seated at the right hand of the Father Jesus Christ awarded battlefield royalty as, “King of kings and Lord of lords, the Bright and Morning Star.” The Father interrupted the Jewish Age to provide a royal family. The Church Age is when the Royal Family is being formed on earth.

Introduction :

Resurrection of the Church 8 Introduction Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church: “And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the Church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.” Ephesians 1:22-23 (NASB)

Introduction :

Resurrection of the Church 9 Introduction The Church is Christ’s Body: He is also the Head of the body, the Church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything. Colossians 1:24 (NASB)

Introduction :

Resurrection of the Church 10 Introduction Formation of the Body: “There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism…” Ephesians 4:4-5 (NASB)

Introduction :

Resurrection of the Church 11 Introduction Formation of the Body Upon completion of the royal family of God, it will be resurrected as the body of Christ. The Church will be resurrected after our Lord.

Introduction :

Resurrection of the Church 12 Introduction The Church’s Resurrection: 1 Thess. 4:16-18 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.

Introduction :

Resurrection of the Church 13 Introduction The Church’s Resurrection: 1 Cor. 15:51-58 Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed. In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality. But when this perishable will have put on the imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, “Death is swallowed up in victory.”

Introduction :

15 Introduction Events After the Church’s Resurrection Receiving a Resurrection Body Acknowledging Christ’s Authority Believer’s Evaluation at the Evaluation Seat of Christ For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. 2 Corinthians 5:10

The Promise of Resurrection :

Resurrection of the Church 16 The Promise of Resurrection Jesus Christ promised resurrection. If I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself. John 14:13

Immanency of Resurrection :

Resurrection of the Church 17 Immanency of Resurrection An immanent even is impending or threatening to happen immediately. The next prophecy to occur is the resurrection of the Church. In the Church Age historical trends are the issue. The Church Age began with prophecy. The Church Age will end with prophecy. No prophecy separates the two events. The age of mystery doctrine separates the events.

Immanency of Resurrection :

Resurrection of the Church 18 Immanency of Resurrection The Church’s resurrection is immanent because no prophecy remains to be fulfilled. The Church’s resurrection, like dying, is out of our control. Resurrection is always our Lord’s victory. Thanks be to God who gives to us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Cor. 15:57 The Church could have been resurrected during James or Paul’s time.

Immanency of Resurrection :

Resurrection of the Church 19 Immanency of Resurrection Misunderstanding of this doctrine abounded therefore James has given us a warning: Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. The farmer waits for the precious produce of the soil, being patient about it, until it gets the early and late rains. You too be patient; strengthen your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near. James 5:7-8

Church Age believers receive resurrection bodies upon resurrection. We will be blameless forever.

Immanency of Resurrection :

Resurrection of the Church 26 Immanency of Resurrection “I am coming soon” of Revelation 22:7, 12 & 20 connotes immanency, not immediacy. The Church’s resurrection is the next prophecy to be fulfilled. “Waiting with keen anticipation for that blessed hope, even the appearance of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus.” Titus 2:13

Immanency of Resurrection :

Resurrection of the Church 29 The Power of Resurrection The power that resurrected Jesus will resurrect us. Resurrection completes both Christ’s mission and the Church’s mission on earth.
