I’ve reset the picture size so they’re nice and big, and I’m going to try to upload it as a .pdf so my pictures don’t get compressed. Here’s hoping! In our last chapter, “Traitor,” the I kids were off to college. While there, Inigo met a lovely girl named Vanessa and fell in love. But in a vision, Inigo was reminded of his immortality, a side affect of being a Seer, and realized he could never be with her. But in the end, he gave up his powers, granting Imago back her mortal sight and rendering him mortal again. He hurried back and told Vanessa everything. However, Imago was not so happy about this. In fact, she accused Inigo of abandoning her in favor of, as she put it, “just some girl.” Inigo tried to make her understand, but she refused. She began to withdraw from the rest of the family. When Imago let loose on Vanessa, calling her all sorts of names, Inigo lost it. What’s next? Well, read on! This chapter focuses more on the other residents of MiniHouse rather than Inigo and Imago. ~June Slide 3: College life was pretty normal in the Granger house. The members of Generation I spent their days learning, talking, and enjoying each other’s company. “Hey, Fay. Mind if I join you?” Knox asked his cousin, who was playing chess against herself. “Only if you’re ready to lose,” Faith challenged, grinning ever so much like her mother. Slide 4: Faith made the first move. “So. Hear from your parents lately?” Knox asked, examining his options carefully. “Yeah, my dad writes at least once a week,” Faith smiled. Some kids would be exasperated by this, but Faith loved hearing from her father. “You?” “Yup. Mom writes a lot. She tells me how she and Dad are passing the time. Yesterday they saw a cloud shaped like a bunny.” They both laughed. It was precisely what Knox’s mother, Faith’s Aunt Mimi, would write about. Slide 5: Knox continued to consider. “You going to move sometime this century?” Faith asked. “I’m thinking.” Knox said sternly. “Good for you. Don’t hurt yourself, okay?” Faith replied dryly. She was quiet for a moment, and then asked, “How’re things with you and Kaylynn?” Slide 6: “We’re getting along just fine,” Knox replied, finally choosing a piece. “You going to marry her?” Faith asked. “Not all of us are Family Sims, Faith…I dunno. Maybe.” Knox said, contemplating his move. “She is, though.” “Yes, but I’m not entirely settled on my decision yet.” Knox said carefully. “I can see that. Move your piece.” Faith said, gesturing at the board. “If you love her you should marry her. And considering the way you go on about her, I’m fairly certain you love her.” Slide 7: Knox finally set a piece down and rolled his eyes. “So, how’re you and what’s-his-face?” Faith scowled. “I don’t have a what’s-his-face,” she said, plunking down a piece with unnecessary bitterness. “Sorry.” Knox said meekly. “It’s okay.” Faith said, but he could hear in her voice it wasn’t. Slide 8: She began to play with some of the pieces, trying to see what would work best. “I mean, I’m very picky when it comes to love. I want to know someone a long while, and really get to know them. But I won’t go out with just anybody, they have to be right. Sometimes I think I’ll never find the perfect person…” She trailed off and let her pieces stand. “You will. It’s just a matter of time.” Knox said comfortingly. Faith smiled a bit. “I’d suggest you move your queen,” she said, pointing to the alignment of the pieces. Slide 9: Knox saw Kaylynn pretty often. They were indeed very much in love. “Kaylynn, I have to be honest, it’s starting to get pretty weird. You being our maid, that is.” Knox said one evening. “Well, it’s my job. I can’t really help it.” Kaylynn replied. “But you could do so much more than clean houses. You’re really intelligent, you know.” “Thanks. I don’t like it, but at the moment I really need this job. I can’t take a chance on finding a new one.” she said sadly. Slide 10: “But someday I will. I’ll be able to quit and get a new job. Don’t worry.” she said soothingly. “Don’t get me wrong, I like the outfit…” They both laughed, and that was the end of it. Slide 11: Ever since Inigo and Imago’s fight, Imago had begun to remove herself from the rest of her housemates. Most days she would paint along in a dark corner of the house. She had a very irregular sleeping pattern. She was most active late at night, and slept in the morning and afternoon. If she slept at all, that is; some days she had terrible insomnia. Slide 12: When she did interact with people, she was very hostile. “Imperius, do we--” she began. “Imago! I was wondering if you still lived here. Why don’t you ever talk to us?” Imperius interrupted. “Never you mind. Do we have any spare rooms?” Slide 13: “Spare rooms? No, I don’t think so. Why? I thought you shared with Inigo.” Imperius asked. “I don’t want to!” Imago replied harshly, an edge to her voice. “Well, why not. Did you two fight or something? I’m sure you’re overreacting.” Imperius said. Slide 14: “It’s none of your business!” Imago shouted. “Don’t you raise your voice at me! I was only asking a question!” Imperius scowled. “Well, you shouldn’t have! I want my own room, not an interrogation!” Imago shouted. Slide 15: “I’m not interrogating you! I asked you a question! You’re like a recluse or something, you don’t talk to anyone anymore, and quite frankly I’m worried about you!” Imperius said angrily. “Don’t worry about me! I can take care of myself!” Imago yelled. “You dyed your hair blue! I beg to differ!” Imperius shot back. “You’re not in charge of me! Just go away!” Slide 16: “You brought up this conversation! Not me!” Imperius pointed out, infuriated. “You made it an interrogation! I asked a question, and now you’re going all crazy on me!” Imperius was quickly losing her temper. Slide 17: “We don’t have any spare rooms!” Imperius shouted. “Fine!” Imperius stormed off. She was sure her head would soon explode from frustration. Slide 18: “She is so infuriating!” Imperius shouted as she got downstairs. Curious, her siblings gathered around, wondering what the commotion was. Slide 19: Inigo sat next to Imperius, and she rounded on him. “Someone has to do something about her! Namely you, Inigo!” she said, gesturing wildly, glaring at everyone for no real reason. She was upset and starting to lose it. Inigo guiltily picked at a hangnail. “I’m sorry. She won’t listen to me either. We had a fight and…and I don’t know what’s been going on with her ever since.” Slide 20: “Imago’s been acting very strange. She won’t talk to anyone. I tried to, but she yelled at me.” Isla chimed in. “She’s been very moody.” Slide 21: “Yeah, she’s been snapping at everyone over really silly things,” Ignotus agreed. “She said I was being too loud playing chess and she was trying to sleep. But it was noon! It’s really weird.” Slide 22: “You said you two had a fight? About what?” Imperius asked, calmed down but still with a slight edge in her voice. “About a lot of things. Namely Vanessa. Imago doesn’t like her.” Inigo said. “Why not? She’s a nice girl.” Isla said. By now most of MiniHouse had met Vanessa. “Well, you know, Imago’s my twin. Ever since we were babies we’ve been together. Now she’s not the only person I pay attention to anymore.” Inigo explained sadly. Slide 23: “That’s absolutely ridiculous! You’re allowed to have a girlfriend! I mean, honestly, I’d be worried if you didn’t! You’re the Legacy heir!” Imperius exclaimed. “Maybe it’s that too. Maybe she’s upset that you’re the heir.” Isla said. “I don’t think she’s jealous. I just think she expected us to always be together and not have separate lives.” Inigo said. “Once again, that’s ludicrous. She’s such a child,” Imperius fumed. Inigo couldn’t help but agree. “So what are we going to do?” Ignotus asked. No one had an answer. Slide 24: Vanessa was well-liked by most of the family, and she stopped by the house every so often. It was clear they were very much in love. Inigo wished he could help Imago, but if it meant getting rid of Vanessa, he just couldn’t do it. Slide 25: “So, um, I’ve been meaning to ask. What does this whole Legacy heir thing mean for us?” Vanessa asked. “What do you mean?” Inigo asked. Neither of them had brought this up yet. “I mean the state of our relationship. How does you being a Legacy heir affect that?” Inigo was nervous. He knew what she meant, but he was afraid to say it. What if it scared her off? Oh, nothing much, really. Except when and if we get married we’ll be kind of important. And, oh yeah, of the children we have one of them will assume heirship and we’ll go through all this again. No big deal, really. So instead he said, “Erm, well, nothing really. At least at the moment.” Slide 26: Vanessa got a strange look on her face. “Really? You can’t think of anything that could possibly affect our relationship?” she said, sounding unhappy. “I…well…” Inigo stuttered. Of course. She had meant getting married. He felt like a fool. She sighed. “I mean, I don’t know much about Legacy families, but I know enough…” Slide 27: “I know.” Inigo said, taking her hands in his own. “I didn’t want to…I don’t know, frighten you or anything.” She smiled. “I’m not afraid. Not all of us are Knowledge Sims, Inigo. You know I’d like a nice big family someday, and I’d really like it to be with you.” Slide 28: “So I can safely assume…?” Inigo asked hopefully. “Yes.” she said immediately, smiling wide. Inigo was anxious knowing he’d have to work up the courage to propose to Vanessa, but the thought excited him immensely. Slide 29: Other Grangers were trying to find romance as well. Ignotus was fascinated by the allure of vampires, and while he didn’t particularly want to be one, he certainly wanted to marry one. So he decided to call up the matchmaker. “Ooh, it’s so shiny! Can I have it?” “No! It’s mine!” But after two bouts of dropping other people’s girlfriends who weren’t vampires, Ignotus decided he was better off finding a vampire on his own. Slide 30: Ignotus headed off to the Crypt O’ Night club that evening, hoping a vampire would be drawn by the name, or that he’d be lucky enough to run into one. Slide 31: “Whee! Maybe I’ll be abducted by aliens on this sphere thing!” Ignotus, I swear, if you get abducted I will personally smite you. I’ve heard of bad side effects of college-age abductees. “Oh. Can I spin, though?” Sure, honey. Slide 32: It was a long wait for a vampire, with only playables and dumb townies showing up. But Ignotus was having a good time. “June, what do the words in this song mean?” Erm, I’ll tell you when you’re older. “Am I older now?” No. Slide 33: “Hey. What’s up?” “Um, nothing much. Just eating my tart.” “Is it good?” “Eh. It’s okay.” “Is it apricot? I’m allergic.” “That’s…nice.” “Seen any vampires?” Ignotus, leave that nice man alone! Seriously, Ig just stood there with his beverage as this playable of mine ate his tart. It was weird. Go stand elsewhere, you creeper. Slide 34: Why not smustle while you wait? “Um, I’m not very good.” Oh, yes, I remember, you were the awkward smustler. Slide 35: “Hi, distant relative!” “Um, hi. June, who’s the weird lady with the goggles?” That’s Bathilda, silly, your relative of some sort. Behave yourself. But morning dawned with no vampires. Ignotus decided to head elsewhere. Slide 36: Ignotus had settled in to await his vampire bride-to-be when a girl took the seat next to him. She had bright blue eyes and long, curly black hair hanging in her face. “Hi. I’m Ivy,” she said with a smile. “I’m Ignotus. I’m waiting for a vampire.” Ignotus said proudly. He was happy to tell anyone of his mission; it had earned him some strange looks. “You know a vampire?” Ivy asked, looking intrigued. “No, but I will. I want to marry one.” “Oh. Really? Not be one?” “Not really. Why, do you?” “I guess. I suppose…maybe…” she said quietly, trailing off. She seemed indecisive. Ignotus looked at Ivy curiously. “Wait, why did you start talking to me? I don’t know you…” A bit unwary, Ignotus moved to another couch. Slide 37: But she followed him and took his other side. “Well, I saw you come in and…and I thought you were…nice so I talked to you. That’s what people do…I guess…” she said nervously, tripping over her words. “You seem nice too, Ivy. Wanna help me wait for my vampire? I have to pass the time somehow.” Ignotus smiled. Ivy’s face fell a bit. I didn’t mean ‘nice’ quite that way… Slide 38: So they sat and talked the afternoon away. Ivy was a Knowledge Sim as Ignotus was, and they had some common interests. Ivy was ever hesitant and unsure, following most of what she said with “I suppose.” Almost as if she wasn’t sure with herself. Ignotus found it fascinating, like a mystery. He very much liked solving mysteries. But when night fell, his eyes lit up as the prospect of vampires took him over. “I have to keep a sharp lookout for vampires. I’d hate to miss one.” he said eagerly, getting up. Behind him, Ivy gave a sad little smile. “Okay.” she said. After a moment, she got up after him. Slide 39: “I hear vampires come here a lot. You wouldn’t suspect it, right?” Ignotus told her. “No, I guess not. This place seems too bright and loud for a vampire.” Ivy agreed. “That’s exactly why! They don’t particularly like to be seen, I think.” Ignotus’s thought process was entirely accurate. No vampire made themselves seen that night. As the dawn crept nearer, an exhausted Ignotus went back to the couches, with Ivy trailing along after him. Slide 40: Ivy turned to him and said, “I don’t think your vampires are showing up tonight.” “You’re probably right.” Ignotus said sadly. “My family will start to worry if I don’t get home…thanks for your company, Ivy. You’re really nice to talk to.” “You’re welcome.” Ivy said softly. She made her leave as well, beginning the long walk home. Slide 41: Ivy left the club with a heavy heart. She hated her life. She was no one in this world, no one of any significance, just part of the backdrop to everyday life. It was her own fault, really. Her mother had always said she lacked the motivation and drive to do anything much. Slide 42: Because of this, she had gotten nowhere in life. She lived in a rickety old house that fell to her possession when some relative or another had died. The place was shabby, in an empty neighborhood downtown. Her only neighbors were empty, unsold houses. She had a dead-end job doing paperwork at the local precinct. Of course Ivy had had many a poor relationship, mostly because she could never find someone compatible with her. Ivy needed someone who made her want to get up and go, to do something. She needed someone exciting. And the one night she did, the object of her affection was chasing vampires. Slide 43: She sighed upon entering the house. Sure, it was home, but it was a very poor home. Ivy wondered if Ignotus would ever find a vampire. If only she was one… Wait. She thought. Why can’t I be a vampire? It was a crazy idea, but surely Ivy had nothing to lose. She was a Knowledge Sim. Being a vampire would be a new, fantastic adventure. Maybe it would give her some direction. And then how could Ignotus ignore her? Ivy smiled as she made her plan. Slide 44: Long ago, Ivy had had a roommate in college who became a vampire. It had been years since they’d seen each other, but at Tosha’s last visit, she had offered to turn Ivy into a vampire. Ivy had declined. She hoped the offer still stood as she dialed the almost-forgotten number. Slide 45: An hour and a half later, Tosha was there. The night was silent, save for traffic blasting faintly in the distance. “Ivy Copur! I haven’t seen you in years. You look lovely, dear.” Tosha said kindly. Ivy smiled. Tosha always had something nice to say. “Thanks for coming over, Tosha. I have a favor to ask you.” “Do you now? I’m all ears.” Slide 46: Ivy took a deep breath. “I want to be a vampire.” “Good choice. I’ll be happy to help.” Tosha grinned, revealing shiny fangs. Ivy flinched. “What do I have to do?” she asked nervously. “Nothing at all, Ivy. Just let me take care of it. I’ll need to bite your neck, of course, but otherwise the transformation is painless.” Ivy gulped but nodded, and braced herself. Slide 47: “With this bite, I render you a creature of the night.” Tosha muttered, drawing Ivy close in a haze of purple smoke. Ivy felt dizzy and sleepy and hardly noticed what followed. Slide 48: By the time Ivy regained her senses, it was done. The bite mark on her neck throbbed a bit, but other than that, a new energy was pulsing through her veins. “I feel great!” she declared, feeling her new fangs carefully with her tongue. “Night is our time. You’ll always be completely energized as long as the shroud of the night covers you.” Tosha explained. “I hope your new life is fulfilling. So long, Ivy.” Slide 49: New life. Ivy decided for her new life, she would need a new, better look. She tied back her hair, which she had always left to cover her face, hiding her uncertainty. Now, she looked elegant and poised. Ivy felt strong, powerful, energetic; it was all new to her. With this new life came a new and improved Ivy, and she was ready to embrace it. Slide 50: By now it was too late to invite Ignotus over, so Ivy devoted herself to finding out everything she could about vampires. She learnt that she was immortal, could turn into a bat at will, and couldn’t go out in the daytime. Indoors, she would be safe, but outside, the harsh rays of the sun would burn her terribly. She was thankful to find that vampires had evolved beyond living off of blood by now. Slide 51: Ivy forgot her new self when day broke and she went to retrieve the newspaper as she always did. With this in mind, she quit her job. She couldn’t even dash out to her carpool in the mornings. So Ivy idly awaited nightfall, when she could invite Ignotus over. Slide 52: As soon as the sun set, Ivy was at the phone. “Hi, Ignotus, it’s Ivy. How are you? Found any vampires?” Ivy began, trying not to laugh. “Hi, Ivy. Nothing yet, no.” Ignotus replied sadly. Ivy smiled. “Hey, can you come over to my place? 84 Vine Street downtown.” “Why?” Ignotus asked. “I have something to show you. I think you’ll like it.” Ivy said. “Um, okay. I’ll see you soon.” Slide 53: Ignotus made his way to Ivy’s house. It was almost deadly quiet, and the silence was quite off-putting. He pushed open the gate, wondering why Ivy had called him over. Had she found a vampire? Why would she tell him, then? She made it pretty plain she wanted more than friendship from him. He didn’t even know why he came here; he was wasting the night. But Ivy was a sweet girl, and he could tell his disinterest disheartened her. He realized he was being a bit limiting in his dating options, but it was what he wanted. Who could tell him he couldn’t pursue what he wanted? But visiting Ivy was the least he could do. Maybe she did find a vampire. Slide 54: Ignotus came up to the door hesitantly, his mind buzzing with contradicting thoughts. “Ivy? Are you in there? It’s Ignotus,” he called, knocking. “It’s open, come right in,” came her voice through the door. Ignotus let himself in. The house seemed deserted. Slide 55: Suddenly a screeching bat flew in from an upper level. Ignotus jumped back as it swooped close to him. “Ivy! Ivy, you have a bat in here!” he yelled, wondering where on earth she could be. Slide 56: In a puff of purple smoke, the bat shifted and became Ivy. “It’s not a bat. It’s just me.” she said unnecessarily, smiling at him. Slide 57: “Ivy? Wow, you…um…you look different.” Ignotus said, looking at her blood red eyes, pale, ashen skin, and gleaming white fangs. “Well, I ought to. I’m a vampire now,” Ivy said victoriously. Ignotus’s eyes widened. A vampire. “Ivy…how--?” “I met an old friend last night who helped.” Ivy explained. “I…I don’t know what to say…” Ignotus stammered, awe-struck. Slide 58: He looked worried. “Ivy, you didn’t do this just for…for me, right? I should have been nicer, I didn’t mean for you to go and be undead! I’m not that great!” “Ignotus, I’ve always sort of wanted to be a vampire. All my life I’ve sort of wanted to do something exciting, but I never had the motivation. You were my motivation to get up and do something dangerous and daring for once.” Ivy said reassuringly. “And I think you are that great, in any event.” Slide 59: Ignotus relaxed a bit. “So…when I said you were nice I meant you were cute.” Ivy said shyly. “And you haven’t met any other vampires, have you?” “No.” “So what do you say we try something out, okay?” Ivy said hopefully. “I don’t know…I just…I feel like I forced you to do this or something.” “You didn’t, I promise you. It was my own decision, taken from many factors which you were only one of.” Slide 60: He still looked a bit unsure. “I like you and all, and you make a truly beautiful vampire, but I can’t shake this feeling.” “I suppose I’ll have to take matters into my own hands, then.” she said. Slide 61: So for once, Ivy took the initiative. Slide 62: “Oh, who am I kidding? I like you a lot, Ivy, and you’re extremely fascinating, so yes, let’s give this a try.” Ignotus smiled. “Really?!” Ivy exclaimed delightedly. She loved this new-found confidence. She was getting all she ever wanted: excitement, adventure, and a great guy too. Slide 63: Hearts! Look at the hearts! Ivy and Ignotus are three-bolters and very sweet together. They fell in love quite quickly. Slide 64: Ivy loved her new self, every inch of it. Daring, brave Ivy got what she wanted, was exciting, was loved, and felt ready to show the world what she was made of. New Ivy was ready to accomplish everything old Ivy wasn’t good enough to do. New Ivy had motivation and determination. Slide 65: New Ivy let herself get a bit carried away, while old Ivy would have stopped a moment to think. The couple ended up in Ivy’s loft as the night went on. Slide 66: A bit carried away indeed. Slide 67: With Ignotus’s love life all squared away, Isla’s next. She’s got bunches of friends but no real chemistry with anyone. She spun up a want for new clothes so I took her out on the town looking for a suitable future spouse. Slide 68: Oh, Isla. I promise you, someday you can wear that wedding gown! Don’t tell, but I think Isla got bashed with the pretty stick the most of this generation. She has such a lovely, friendly face, it just screams Popularity Sim. Slide 69: “June, this is the second club you’ve taken me to, but I can’t find anyone!” It’s my fault, I must have been insane temporarily when I chose your ridiculous turn-ons. Why no, this picture isn’t showing off how pretty Isla is again! I swear! Slide 70: But in the end, Isla spun up wants for her professor, Samuel Parker, who reminds me of Seb so I was hesitant. But I couldn’t say no to that poor lonely face. They have good chemistry besides; two bolts, like Imperius and Douglas. Slide 71: See, look how happy she is. Let’s all admire their loving relationship and ignore the fact that she’s getting class credits with every flirt. Slide 72: They take sweet pictures, too. Isla looks so pretty when she’s enamored. “June, my wants panel says--” No you may not have car woohoo! You’re at dream date as it is! Slide 73: I’m just on a roll. Isla’s got a boyfriend and I have one less Sim to pair up. Slide 74: Back home, the days passed quickly and happily for the inhabitants of MiniHouse. “So, Ig, rumor has it you have a girlfriend?” Inigo asked his brother one afternoon. “Who told you that?” Ignotus laughed. “Vanessa. She seems to own a rumor mill. Is it true?” “Yes, as a matter of fact. She’s really lovely, and a vampire too!” “Wow.” Inigo said. Knowledge Sims appreciate such things. “Speaking of Vanessa, how is she? You going to propose soon?” Ignotus asked. Inigo smiled shyly. “I’m hoping to,” he said. Slide 75: Later that evening, Inigo picked through a bunch of flowers, trying to force them into a nice bouquet for Vanessa. As he did so, he contemplated what Ignotus had said, and what he planned to do for the proposal. All in all it was pretty cliché. A night out at a fancy restaurant, with flowers and candles and such. But he was still working out just what to say. “Will you marry me.” Inigo stated, saying each word carefully. So simple, but so difficult. Was that really all it took? Four little words? Various compliments ran through his mind. Things about how beautiful she was, how she lit up his life, how he wanted to be with her forever. He said a few, testing them out. Slide 76: He didn’t notice the door opening and someone listening in. “You’re going to marry her?” came Imago’s voice harshly after a moment. Inigo sighed and dropped the flowers in his hands. “Yes,” he said, as calmly as he possibly could. Slide 77: He turned to face her. “Look, Immy, I know you don’t like Vanessa. I know you blame her for the choices I’ve made. But she means a lot to me, and I’m not going to leave her because you don’t approve,” he said, choosing his words carefully. “And I’m going to ask her to marry me soon, like it or not.” Slide 78: “Even after all this, I’d really love it if you’d come to the wedding. You don’t have to dress up or anything, you don’t have to have a front seat, but I really just want you there with the rest of the family.” Inigo said. He hoped the invitation would be the first step to reconciliation between himself and Imago. Imago stared at him silently for a moment. Slide 79: “You honestly think I’d want to see you marry her? That girl who wrecked absolutely everything?” she finally said angrily. “I hoped you would at least come for me,” Inigo said truthfully. “No! I won’t come to your stupid wedding, Inigo!” Imago shouted. She turned heel and left the room, slamming the door behind her. Slide 80: Inigo was left alone with the half-finished bouquet. He fought back the urge to cry. He’d always dreamed of Imago being by his side at his wedding, and he at hers, and both of them happy for each other. But obviously it wasn’t meant to be. Slide 81: With the general romantic air about the house, Faith decided it was her turn to go off and find a boyfriend. So she drove off to enjoy a trip downtown. Slide 82: “June, why is it so important I find a boyfriend who looks just right? You let Imperius date the squished-face guy.” First of all, Imperius acts of her own volition, I can’t help it. Secondly, I have plans for these future sproglets of yours. “Such as?” Well, I can’t tell you that quite yet. But it’s okay, it’ll soon become quite plain. By soon I mean when the various plots die down, of course. Slide 83: “Should I be afraid of these plans?” Nah, not really. Slide 84: When night fell, Faith traveled to another club, which was inherently better because she could roast marshmallows there. Slide 85: As she was waiting for another burst of flame, someone else joined her. “I have no idea what I’m doing. I’m used to campfires,” the stranger said with a chuckle. He hesitantly inched his marshmallow closer to Faith’s. “It’s easy, don’t worry.” she reassured him. “You just wait for the fire and let the marshmallow burn. It’s faster than any campfire.” He looked unconvinced and merely followed Faith’s lead. Slide 86: When the jet came up, Faith said, “Okay, now!” The stranger took a step closer and let his marshmallow roast. “I don’t want to get burned. Am I doing it right?” “You’re doing splendidly,” Faith smiled. Slide 87: When Faith’s marshmallow was done, she crammed it all into her mouth at once, ignoring her burned tongue. “I’m not very ladylike,” she explained through gobs of melted marshmallow. Slide 88: “Say, are you from around here? I’ve lived here all my life but I don’t think I’ve ever met you.” Faith said, taking a good look at the man. He was rather handsome, with messy jet-black hair, a sharp nose, and mellow gray eyes. “No, I’ve just moved here. I’m Oliver Sparks, by the way,” he said. “Faith Granger,” she replied. Slide 89: A sudden jet of fire burst up, and Faith caught sight of Oliver’s ears. “Are you an elf or something?” she asked, curious. Oliver shook his head and absently fixed his hair to lie over his ears. “My ancestors were, but very far back on my family tree. I try to keep them hidden. People make a big deal, but it’s really nothing.” “Same here. I’m the daughter of a Legacy spare. Everyone thinks it’s so awe-inspiring but it’s nothing special. I can’t help the family I was born into.” Slide 90: “Well, I suppose people would think it’s a big deal. People always seem to want what they can’t have.” Oliver said reasonably. “I suppose. And I think your ears are really unique and cute, for the record.” Faith said, smiling. He was giving her butterflies in her stomach, a sensation she wasn’t used to but was quite fond of. Slide 91: Faith and Oliver were truly enjoying each other’s company. They talked, with Faith telling him about Sahara Valley and Legacy life, and Oliver telling her of his hometown. They shared jokes and funny stories. After a while, in some way or another, they got around to plans for the future. Slide 92: Faith was always hesitant about this particular topic. It had a habit of scaring people off. But she liked Oliver, and thought he was interesting and cute, and knew that if they were going to have a relationship, she had to say this sooner or later. “Well, my father taught me the importance of family. Someday I want to have a lot of kids, and I want to see them all get married and start their own families. I’ve always been safe with my parents, my relatives, and I always wanted siblings as a kid. So I want six children, and I’ll dedicate myself to raising them right.” She looked at him hopefully. “I know it’s weird…” Slide 93: “No, it’s not weird.” Oliver disagreed. “It’s a fine idea. I had a big family back home, and I loved having brothers and sisters. If I ever get married, I’d love something like that.” “R-really?” Faith asked wonderingly. “Yes.” Slide 94: Oliver reached out and took Faith’s hand. “Say, Faith, do you have a boyfriend?” he asked with a grin. “Not at the moment,” Faith replied coyly. “Would you mind if I was your boyfriend?” “I was hoping you’d ask.” Slide 95: Faith had finally found what she was looking for. Slide 96: One night, Ignotus got a call. “Hello, Granger residence.” “Ig? It’s Ivy. Listen, I need you to come over right now. It’s important.” Ivy said. “What’s going on, Ivy?” Ignotus asked, concerned. “Are you alright?” “I’m…I’m fine.” Ivy said. She took a very long time to answer. This worried Ignotus even more. He hurried over to Ivy’s, hoping everything was okay. Slide 97: Ignotus was soon at 84 Vine Street. He knocked. Ivy called from within, “It’s open,” her voice unusually weary. Ignotus walked in, worrying and wondering what on earth was going on. Slide 98: Ivy came downstairs, and it became apparent why she sounded so tired. There was a very noticeable bump underneath her dress. Ignotus stared, dumbfounded, for a moment. Finally he said, “You…you’re pregnant?” “Yes,” Ivy sighed. “And…and the baby’s mine?” Ignotus asked hesitantly. “Of course, don’t be ridiculous!”Ivy cried. Slide 99: He gently rubbed the bump, feeling a roller coaster of emotions. He was sort of excited; he’d decided he would like to have children someday, and the prospect of fatherhood was a great new adventure. But at the same time, he was scared and unsure. He was still in school, how could he be a proper father? “I…I don’t know what to say, Ivy.” “I don’t, either.” Slide 100: “Well, we’re in this, and we’ll make it through together. Don’t worry.” Ignotus said as comfortingly as he could. “Together?” Ivy asked. “Of course. What did you think, I would leave? That’s an awful, cowardly thing to do. I’m scared, sure, but I won’t run off.” Slide 101: Ivy looked greatly relieved; it seemed she had been worrying. “Now, Ivy, we need to start making plans. I don’t know how my family will take this, but I think they’ll be willing to help us out. And I’ll have to leave school, so--” Slide 102: “What?! No! You can’t drop out, Ignotus!” Ivy interrupted. “What do you mean? I have to. How can I be here for you and the baby if I’m at school?” Ignotus said. “Ignotus, I’m a Knowledge Sim like you. I know you like being at school and studying, and I can’t take that away from you.” Ivy said. “You might not be showing it, but the thought of leaving college upsets you. I can tell.” Slide 103: “Ivy--” “No, Ignotus. I can’t let you, the guilt would kill me. Besides, La Fiesta isn’t too far away, and you’re more than halfway done. If you get a diploma you can better provide for us in the future. I don’t have a job anymore, and as long as I stay inside the sun won’t hurt me. We’ll be fine here for a little while.” Ivy said, making a plan as she went along. “You come visit whenever you like, and help out in between classes. Please, Ignotus, I’ll be fine.” Ignotus sighed. “Only if you insist.” “I do.” Slide 104: “Alright. Okay.” Ignotus agreed. Ivy smiled. “But if we’re going to, you know, raise a baby together, there’s something I have to say first.” Slide 105: “Ivy, I thought I knew what I was looking for. But since I met you, that’s all changed. I love you, and I know this is a bit sudden but current circumstances call for it.” Slide 106: “Ivy, will you marry me?” Ivy gasped. “Ignotus! Oh my…of course I will!” Slide 107: “Oh, Ignotus, it’s beautiful.” “Not as beautiful as you.” “Stop, I’m fat now.” Slide 108: No one really expected Ignotus to be the first of Generation I to be engaged. But it was fitting; he was fathering the first child of Generation J! Slide 109: Ignotus was almost a constant fixture at Ivy’s house as she approached her due date. As Ignotus expected, the Grangers were surprised at Generation J arriving early, but accepting and excited nonetheless. Ignotus and Ivy anticipated the birth of their child as Ignotus continued to work and study at school. Slide 110: Finally, the fateful day arrived. “Um, Ignotus? The baby’s coming!” “What? Now?!” “Yes, now, why else would I say it?!” Slide 111: Ignotus was well-meaning but virtually useless with the birth. Ivy handled it relatively well. Slide 112: But soon, the baby was born happy, healthy, and rather adorable. “Oh, Ig, he has your eyes! He’s so cute!” Slide 113: “You did great, Ivy. What’s his name?” “Leonard. Quite an intelligent name, if I do say so myself.” Slide 114: So everyone say hello to little Leonard Copur, firstborn of Generation J! Slide 115: Meanwhile, the rest of Generation I went about securing themselves lovers. “Hey, look, Douglas, hearts!” Imperius and Douglas are a very sweet couple because they’re always doing romantic things by themselves, without me having to tell them to. Slide 116: Aww, I’ve never seen her so happy! I like to think she loves to hate his hair… Slide 117: But Faith has the best boyfriend ever cause he brings us stuff. Yay Oliver! Slide 118: Inigo had been planning proposing to Vanessa for quite some time now. Finally, the all-important evening arrived. Inigo took Vanessa out to a fancy place downtown, and anxiously hoped for the best. Slide 119: “Inigo, this restaurant is lovely! You really do spoil me,” Vanessa laughed as they sat at a secluded table in the back. Slide 120: “But, you know, I didn’t take you here for no reason. I have something very important to ask you.” Inigo said. Now or never… “Really? What’s that?” Vanessa asked, her eyes alight. He had a feeling she knew what he was talking about. Slide 121: He pulled out the box from his pocket and set it on the table in front of her. “Vanessa, you’re beautiful, intelligent, and I love you so much. Will you do me the honor of being my wife?” Vanessa gasped. “Oh, my…really?!” Slide 122: “Oh, Inigo, it’s beautiful! Yes, I will be your wife!” she exclaimed, admiring the ring within the box. Words could not describe their happiness. Slide 123: The diamond ring glimmered in the candlelight, and the young couple were both entirely content. They both knew the enormity of their situation. Together, they would lead on the Legacy, raising children, one of whom would take on the same duties they were now. But they weren’t afraid; after all, they would go through it all together. Slide 124: The next morning in Sahara Valley, Kaylynn Langerak was playing with a swarm of butterflies. “Now come on, little ones, I have this nice jar for you and you’ll be a far prettier decoration than any painting I can’t afford…” she murmured, moving the jar as close as she could without scaring the butterflies away. Slide 125: Kaylynn had finally saved up enough to quit the maid service and buy herself a new house in the Valley. It was plain and bare for the moment, but at least it was hers. She got a new job as a police cadet, and life was almost perfect. With Knox, it would be perfect. She absently played with her hair. She hoped Knox would like the bangs. Slide 126: “Hello, Knox, it’s me. I have wonderful news for you, you’ll never guess!” she said happily. “I’ve quit maiding, I’ve got a lovely new place and a new job and it’s so great!” “That’s amazing news, Kay!” Knox said, as excited as she. “Would you like to come over? It’s 15 Poppy Drive in the Valley.” Slide 127: Soon, Knox had arrived. “I know it’s boring,” Kaylynn said nervously, excusing the house. “Well, we’ll brighten it up. Don’t worry.” Knox assured her. “You mean, after you graduate you’d like to live here with me?” Kaylynn asked hopefully. “Sure,” he smiled. “In that case…” Slide 128: “Knox, will you marry me? I love you so much, and I know it’s usually the man who proposes but I figured you might be a little nervous.” Kaylynn said. Knox met her eyes, alight with hope, and smiled back. Slide 129: “Yes. Yes, I will, Kay.” Knox said, pulling her into a tight embrace. Slide 130: Before long, the rest of Generation I began to pop the question to their significant others. All proposals were accepted quite happily. Slide 131: Before anyone could believe it, graduation day came for Generation I. Before they all parted and went their separate ways, they had a bit of a party to celebrate their successes. Slide 132: They smustled with music blasting at full volume, talking and laughing as they did so. It had been a long four years, and they were all relieved that this was the end of their days at school. But Inigo noticed Imago was not joining them, and instead glaring over at them. So naturally, he went over to talk to her. Slide 133: “Immy, come join us. We’re celebrating, I mean, even Imp’s dancing!” Inigo said cheerily, smiling. “No.” Imago retorted bluntly. “No, I will not dance with you people.” “You people? We’re your family, Immy.” Inigo said, confused. Slide 134: “I wish you weren’t. Look, I’m leaving.” Imago said. “I’ve graduated, and I want out of here.” “So soon? Why can’t you stay with us a little while longer?” “Because I don’t want to! I can’t stand another minute here, I can’t stand any of you!” Slide 135: “What do you mean? I thought you were only angry with me. Don’t bring everyone else into this.” “You’re my twin, my so-called best friend. If you won’t listen to me, if you make me upset, who’s to say the rest of them won’t be worse? You were the only one who ever really liked me, the rest didn’t. So if you’ve turned on me, I have no one.” Imago said, scowling. “I hate this family and I want out. So I’m leaving.” Slide 136: With that, she turned heel and ran out the door as fast as she could. “Imago! Stop, come back!” Inigo called. “No! You’ll never see me again!” she declared as she ran over the front yard and down the sidewalk. Slide 137: Inigo chased after her, calling her name. But once again she was too fast; she was gone. He looked around frantically, but he was alone on the porch. You’ll never see me again. Could she really mean it? Was she really that upset, even still? There was nothing he could do now. For the moment, she was gone. Slide 138: With that, the college years of Generation I come to a close. Next time, many marriages are had, Generation J begins, feuds remain, and a drastic event changes everything for the family. Slide 139: Oh, how wrong we were to think That immortality meant never dying… You do not have the permission to view this presentation. Slide 139: Oh, how wrong we were to think That immortality meant never dying…
