INTRODUCTION:

Mini tablets are solid dosage form like tablets only difference is, mini tablets are small in size i.e. diameter typically equal to or less than 3 mm, it is generally used in geriatrics and pediatrics patient. It is easy to take. Due to its small size it get easily swallow by children and old persons INTRODUCTION 10/3/2011 3

DEFINITION :-“Capsules are solid preparations with hard and soft shells of various shapes and capacities, usually containing a single dose of active ingredients.” TYPES Hard gelatin capsules Soft gelatin capsules Hard Gelatin Capsules Soft Gelatin Capsules CAPSULE :- 10/3/2011 4

Mini- tablets in capsules:-:

Mini- tablets in capsules:- It is also possible to incorporate mini-tabs of different drugs in capsule:- To Treat Concurrent Diseases Combinations Of Drugs Formulated Individually And Programmed To Release Drug At Different Sites Avoid Incompatibility 10/3/2011 5

Antiplatelet :

Antiplatelet It is used in_ prevention of myocardial infarction (MI), stroke and other cardiovascular events. Several antiplatelet agents, with different mechanisms of action, are classified as_ Cyclooxygenase inhibitors Aspirin Adenosine diphosphate (ADP) receptor inhibitors Clopidogrel (Plavix) Ticagrelor (Brilinta) Prasugrel (Effient) Ticlopidine (Ticlid) 10/3/2011 6

Slide 7:

Phosphodiesterase inhibitors Cilostazol (Pletal) Glycoprotein IIB/IIIA inhibitors (intravenous use only) Abciximab (ReoPro) Eptifibatide (Integrilin) Tirofiban (Aggrastat) Adenosine reuptake inhibitors Dipyridamole (Persantine) Thromboxane inhibitors Thromboxane synthase inhibitors Thromboxane receptor antagonists terutroban. Note :- Combining 2 antiplatelet agents with different mechanisms of action was demonstrated to provide a substantial increase in efficacy 10/3/2011 7

REVIEW OF LITERATURE:- :

Karla LaPorte , The minitablets are small enough that they should be easy to swallow, and they have the added benefits of being simple to manufacture and easily scalable for multiple dosage strengths Yolande Anthony , Copovidone, in combination with cetyl alcohol can be spray congealed and used effectively as a binder of poorly compressible, moisture sensitive actives. Gregory W. Albers , Drug B shows two absorption maxima at 235.7 nm and 304.4 nm after acidic hydrolysis. Drug A also absorbs at 235.7 nm but shows no absorption at 304.4 nm in the same condition. Calibration curve for Drug A and Drug B was prepared in the concentration range 4-18 mg/ml (range for which Beer Lambert's law followed) at 235.7 nm and for Drug B at 304.4 nm. Mishra p , Simple two spectrometric method for evaluation of combination of two drug, first based on additivity of absorption and second based on determination of graphical absorption ratio at two wavelength. Willowdale, Formulation, development and evaluation of film coated immediate release minitablets of Drug A Kalvimurthi V , formulation, development and evaluation of extended release mini-tablets of Drug B REVIEW OF LITERATURE:- 10/3/2011 8

Rationale:

To get synergistic action by the combination of Drug A and Drug B To avoid incompatibility To get immediate as well as delayed release leads to better drug delivery than innovator product Rationale 10/3/2011 9

Aim and Objective:

To develop and evaluate immediate release film coated tablet of Drug A and delayed release tablet of Drug B in capsule. Comparison of developed product against available market sample with respect to physical and chemical parameters Aim and Objective 10/3/2011 10

PLAN OF WORK:-:

Literature Survey Innovator Product characterization/ market products Identification of material Preformulation Studies API characterization Drug- excipients Compatibility study Development and Optimization Physical and chemical evaluation of tablet Stability Study PLAN OF WORK :- 10/3/2011 11

ADVANTAGES:-:

Easy to take Avoid incompatibility Easy to manufacture Cheap rate Avoid large dosing frequencies Onset of action as well as Delayed Release Possible Protect From Moisture ADVANTAGES:- 10/3/2011 12

PROGRESS OF WORK :-:

Indent API And Excipients From Vendor Indented Excipients Send To Analysis Development Laboratories For_ Impurity Study (Rs) Assay Particle Size Determination PROGRESS OF WORK :- 10/3/2011 13
