What is RTI? Response to Intervention is an intervention based approach to assist ALL students succeed Provides a specific intervention for one or more students and then measures their response to that intervention Uses data-based, research proven, and effective interventions Can be used for academic or behavioral issues
Why Do We Need RTI?:
Why Do We Need RTI? We need to help students who are “falling through the cracks” We need to fix the “waiting to fail” model, where students must fail year after year before we can provide them with effective interventions We will be able to easily identify students who need further interventions that the general education setting can not provide We can help students with learning disabilities with the better interventions and make sure appropriate special education identification occurs If we provide these interventions early and effectively, we can successfully improve a student’s overall school experience
