Ixtapa – grew from only 491 hotel rooms to over 4,000 rooms Los Cabos - grew from 10 hotels with 500 rooms to 60 hotels with over 6000 rooms Fonatur - Bays of Huatulco : Fonatur - Bays of Huatulco For the first 15 years, Fonatur focused on these original three destinations. But then in the early 1980s it turned it’s attention to the “Bays of Huatulco” And dubbed it … “The tourism wonder of tomorrow”.
