Area that ice covers is shrinking at a rate of 9 percent each decade. Effects the eating and migration habits for animals and even the hunters.Slide 3: The red lines represents the ice cover in 1979, and you can see what it covers nowEffects of Global Warming: Effects of Global Warming Weather Patterns The melting of the Arctic causes problems for the U.S because the ice causes cold air masses to sweep down towards the U.S Without this, our winters would be warmer, effecting crops More natural disasters have occurred in the past few years due to the changing weather patterns and increase in temperatures. Temperature are believed to rise about 5 degrees by the year 2100.Effects of Global Warming: Effects of Global Warming Rising Sea Levels Ice is melting worldwide, including glaciers and ice sheets covering Antarctica and Greenland Melting Glaciers and ice lead to a rise in sea levels. Coastal flooding and beach erosion are effects of the rising sea levels. A 3 foot rise in sea levels are projected by 2100Effects of Global Warming: Effects of Global Warming Droughts Warmer temperatures would take the moisture out of the soil. Dry soil will create droughts in farmland. Combined with a decrease amounts of rainfall, it will be harder to farm and cause people to migrate.Causes: Causes Is it a natural cycle of Earth? Weather, Temperatures and other various aspects of life change every thousand years or so. People believe there is no such thing as global warming, they think that this rise in temperatures just happens to be a cycle that earth is going through.Causes: Causes Greenhouse Gases Methane is a greenhouse gas that is released into the atmosphere. Methane traps heat in the earth’s atmosphere and lets in sunlight. The burning of oil, coal and gas produce gases that trap heat. Carbon dioxide is the gas most responsible for warming. Gases are causing the climate to change in a way that is too fast for things to adapt. Since 1990, there has been a 20% increase in the amount of gas emissions into the environmentPossible Solutions: Possible Solutions Energy Efficiency Automobile efficiency is crucial to preserving the environment. Companies are currently developing new engines that are more efficient in producing gases. Solar and wind power decrease the amount of gases being released compared to using electricity to power everything. The U.S produces 70% of its electricity from fossil fuels.Possible Solutions: Possible Solutions Reduce Gasoline Usage More efficient cars are being developed to use less energy and release less carbon dioxide into the environment. Cars, trucks and buses use half of the oil produced in the U.S As long as cars need gasoline to run, there will be gases released in the atmosphere. The perfect solution would be to get rid of all cars running on gas and switch to an alternative fuel.Slide 14: Components of a Hybrid car Components of a Hybrid carPossible Solutions: Possible Solutions Preserve Forests Deforestation is a key component to why global warming is occurring. Keeping trees alive is crucial to absorb the carbon dioxide out of the air. Many forests have been cut down, which lower the amount of oxygen available. To stop global warming, more trees need to be planted.Global Warming Facts: Global Warming Facts Due to the effects of global warming, 2005 was the warmest year on record National Glacier park will have no glaciers left by 2030 400,000 square miles of the Arctic Sea has melted. Since 1970, there has been a 100% increase on the number of hurricanes. 15% to 37% of all plant life and animal species will be gone by 2050.Works Cited: Works Cited "Global Warming -- National Geographic ."
