JUDGEMENT ON A RICHARD PRINCE JOKE PAINTING This acrylic on canvas with text painting for me has balance due to the soft background
overlapped by the rough text. No lines are visible except
for the text which has a majority of straight lines. The
contrast of the simple colors used is obviously clean.
This painting which is from his series of joke paintings
has a very original concept; simple yet eye catching. It
draws attention straight to the subject which is the text.
it literally tells the whole story/ meaning through the
joke written which speaks about the artist's wife.
I find the art piece very entertaining and contemporary.
relaxing in a way that when you see it, it relieves ones
stress and does not require intensive analysis as its mere purpose is to entertain and to tell
a statement. It is relatable since we, especially us Filipinos, are fond of jokes. Also, its very
youthful, unique and refreshing to see.
