Premium member Presentation Transcript Greek Mythology : Greek Mythology By Jonah & Carla The Twelve Olympians : The Twelve Olympians The Twelve Olympians were the main Greek gods, who lived on Mount Olympus Zeus : Zeus Slide 4: Zeus is the ruler of the Greek gods, ruler of Mount Olympus, and the god of sky and thunder Athena : Athena Slide 6: Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom, war, the arts, industry, justice and skill. She was the favorite child of Zeus. She had sprung fully grown out of her father's head. Poseidon : Poseidon Slide 8: Poseidon is the god of the sea, protector of all waters. His weapon is a trident, which can shake the earth, and shatter any object. Hades : Hades Slide 10: Hades is Zeus’s brother. He is ruling over the dead also known as the underworld. Hestia : Hestia Slide 12: She is a virgin goddess. She is the Goddess of the Hearth, the symbol of the house around which a new born child is carried before it is received into the family. Hera : Hera Slide 14: Hera is Zeus wife and sister. She is the supreme goddess, goddess of marriage and childbirth and takes special care of married women. Ares : Ares Slide 16: Son of both Hera and Zeus. He was disliked by both parents. He is the god of war. Apollo : Apollo Slide 18: He is the god of music, playing a golden lyre. The god of healing who taught man medicine. The god of light. The god of truth, who can not speak a lie. Aphrodite : Aphrodite Slide 20: Aphrodite is the goddess of love, desire and beauty. Her favorite lover is the god of war, Ares. She represented sex, affection, and the attraction that binds people together. Hermes : Hermes Slide 22: Hermes was the cleverest of the Olympian gods, and messenger to all the other gods. He is the fastest of the gods. He wears winged sandals, a winged hat, and carries a magic wand. He is the god of thieves and god of commerce. He is the guide for the dead to go to the underworld. Artemis : Artemis Slide 24: She was goddess of chastity, virginity, the hunt, the moon, and the natural environment. She is the lady of the wild things. She is the huntsman of the gods. She is the protector of the young. Hephaestus : Hephaestus Slide 26: He is the only god to be physically ugly. He is the god of fire and the forge. He is the smith and armored of the gods.
