Direct Characterization The method of character development in which the author simply tells you what the character is like. “ Lydia was a lovely young lady. With her flowing, auburn hair and blue eyes she stood out from the rest of the crowd.”

Indirect Characterization:

Indirect Characterization Using indirect characterization, the author presents the character’s personality through what he/she says, his/her actions, or how other characters relate to him/her. “Nobody could help but look at her stunning, gorgeous face when Lydia entered a room. She commanded attention wherever she went due to her good looks.”
