(Bible Lesson Preparation and Presentation) Slide 2: Prepare Your Heart Slide 3: • What does it say? Read the Scripture Passage Consider the characters, places and time when the story took place. Make a list of the essential Bible story facts (8-20 are sufficient). Slide 4: • What does it mean? Read the Scripture Passage Look for biblical principles that transcend time. Identify the main character— in an evangelistic lesson this will be the character who has a need or problem that can be related to the unsaved child’s problem of sin. Slide 5: • What is God saying to me? To the child? Read the Scripture Passage Make it personal—how will I respond to God’s truth? How can I apply this message to the children? Slide 6: Look at the Text An objective is what the teacher desires the child to do as a result of hearing the Bible lesson. The main teaching is the biblical truth which is the focus of the Bible passage. The main teaching should be stated on a child’s level and emphasized throughout the lesson. Slide 7: Notice the Four Parts of a Bible Lesson Introduction • Plan a brief opening that will create interest in what you will teach. • An introduction could be: A short illustration that relates to the lesson A question An exciting story event A direct approach 1 Slide 8: Progression of Events • Events of the story are listed in order from the Scripture passage. These provide the action of the story and lead up to the climax. • Analyze the Bible passage for natural places to teach the message of salvation truths. 2 Notice the Four Parts of a Bible Lesson Slide 9: What sin, problem or sickness is evident in the life of the main character or in the Bible story? Where can I teach God’s love for the main character? OR Where can I teach a truth about God that will also enable me to teach His love? What solution does God offer for the problem? Relate this to the NEED in the life of the child. Relate God’s love for the child. Relate this to the WAY of salvation. 2 Slide 10: Climax • The climax is one definite statement. It is the high point in the story where the problem is solved. 3 Notice the Four Parts of a Bible Lesson Slide 11: Conclusion • The conclusion follows the climax and is brief. Link Bartimaeus was in physical darkness because he could not see with his eyes. But he had a much greater problem. Bartimaeus had darkness in his heart because of sin. Anything that does not please God Examples of sin: Sin must be punished—to be forever separated from God Personal to Child Without the Lord Jesus you are in the darkness of sin. Give an Invitation Slide 23: Give an Invitation Slide 24: Invitation Link Bartimaeus came to know that the Lord Jesus Christ is truly the Light of the World. Today the Lord Jesus has the power to take away the darkness of sin in your life. Condition/ Promise Verse The Bible says in Rom 10:13 . . . Review Need Your sin separates you from God. Review Way God loves you and wants you to live with Him someday in Heaven, so He sent Jesus, His perfect Son, to die on the cross and take the punishment for your sin. Slide 25: If you would like to call on Jesus, believing in Him to save you today . . . Show Me . . . show me by quietly standing where you are Meet for Counseling Come with me now to (designated location), and we will look at God’s Word together to see how you can be saved. Explain the Verse That means you need to come to Jesus and believe with all your heart that He died on the cross, giving His precious blood as payment for your sin. If you call on Him and trust Him as your Savior, you will no longer be in the darkness of sin. He will save you from the punishment you deserve and change your life forever.
