Recent oil spill disaster has caused an environmental hazard.

The effects to sea-life and other damages :

The effects to sea-life and other damages Oil spills are one of the number of prominent environmental issues that have been troubling environmental fanatics across the globe. These oil spills have a disastrous effect on the environment. Nevertheless, it is the sea animals that are the worst hit. Oil spills have numerous ill effects on sea birds and animals. http://electronicintifada.net/artman2/uploads/1/polluted-coast.jpg

Who's responsible for this disaster? :

Who's responsible for this disaster? Latest BP Gulf oil spill shocks the world— As a government panel has estimated that the well had been leaking 504,000 to 798,000 gallons a day. As much as 29 million gallons have spilled into the gulf since the April 2010 explosion of the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig, compared with 11 million gallons spilled by the Exxon Valdez tanker in 1989. BP, the owner of the well, says it will pay “all legitimate claims” from the accident. And President Obama called it an unprecedented disaster and said that BP will pay for the losses.

Attempted Solutions :

Attempted Solutions There were four different attempts at containing and stopping the oil leak : clogging up the ruptured pipeline with golf balls and pieces of tire using remote controlled submarines to spray dispersant chemicals into the oil in order to thin it, which aids in causing all the oil to rise to the surface of the ocean attaching a smaller pipe into the rupture in order to siphon the oil into a storage container the top kill method, which consisted of launching mud and cement into the hole.

Attempted Solutions : :

Attempted Solutions : TOP KILL: This idea basically consisted of simply trying to plug the damaged pipe with as much mud, cement, and sand mixed together into a sticky substance as possible. It was though that this would slow the flow of the leaking crude oil and eventually stop its path by clogging the leak. http://www.oneinchpunch.net/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/crude-oil-spill-clear-up.jpg
