What is ECDL? : 

What is ECDL? “European Computer Driving Licence” Established in 1996 and rolled out worldwide Qualification that enables people to certify their competence in essential IT knowledge Certifies to a set standard the IT skills candidates already have or are gaining through training The organisations supporting ECDL represent a broad cross section of industry and academia

Why is ECDL so effective? : 

Why is ECDL so effective? “ECDL is a standard definition and an actual measure of computer skills, that is internationally recognised, and it provides a balance between employer needs and employee skills.”

Timescales : 

Timescales Per exam: Each exam lasts for 45 minutes To study for one module : We estimate just under 1 month Do all modules in 6 months Fast track

Structure : 

Structure Seven Tailored Modules Exam - 45 minutes Pass mark 60% module 1 & 80% all others Performance based questions, multiple choice…etc…. Innovative mix of knowledge based questions and task based exercises that test both the student’s overall understanding of IT and their ability to put it to practical use Madmax:

Modules Basic Concepts of Information Technology Using the Computer and Managing Files (Windows) Word Processing (Word) Spreadsheets (Excel) Presentation (Powerpoint) Database (Access) Information and Communication(Outlook, IE4)

Modules (continued) : 

Modules (continued) Module 1 to test the underpinning knowledge using a variety of question types including multiple choice and click and drag Modules 2-7 consist primarily of performance based tests measuring the student’s skill competency in desktop operating systems and applications

Retakes : 

Retakes The exam can be taken three times TNA – Study – course – practice – exam – resit If a delegate fails by more than 10% they will be advised not to retake the exam the same day but to go and study.
