These kids must escape this unfair pain and agony. Slide 3: Almost half the world’s population (over three billion people) live on less than $2.50 a day Slide 5: According to UNICEF, 26,500 – 30,000 children die each day due to poverty Slide 6: POVERTY NEVER TAKES A HOLIDAY... Slide 7: About 27-28 percent of all children in the developing countries are estimated to be underweight and malnourished. Slide 9: Infectious diseases like Malaria continue to blight the lives of the poor across the world. An estimated 40 million people are living with HIV/AIDS. Three million people died in Africa in 2004. Slide 11: About 72 million primary school aged children did not receive education in 2005; 57 percent of them were girls. Slide 13: Nearly a billion people entered the 21st century unable to read a book or sign their names. Slide 14: WE NEED EDUCATION Slide 15: About 1.8 million children die each year as a result of diarrhea. Slide 17: For the 1.9 billion children from the developing world, there are: 640 million without adequate shelter 400 million with no access to safe water 270 million with no access to health Slide 19: In 2003, 10.6 million children died before they reached the age of 5 worldwide.
