ABSTRACT : # An ELECTRIC METER or ENERGY METER is a device that measures the amount of electrical energy supplied to or produced by a residence, business or machine. # When used in a electricity retailing, the utilities record the values measured by these meters to generate an invoice for the electricity . # The most common unit of measurement on the electricity meter is the kilowatt hour, which equal to the amount of energy used by a load of one kilowatt over a period of one hour. # The digital meter replaces the consumer’s conventional meter and contains a microcontroller to enable communication. # The meter housing also includes an automatic disconnect switch that opens or closes as the meter depletes or recharges the energy credits, respectively. :

Instruction register corresponds to the register where you send commands to LCD When send the enable signal of the LCD is asserted, the data on the pins is latched in to the data register and data is then moved automatically to the DDRAM and hence is displayed on the LCD

RELAY: Relays are electromagnetic switches, which provides contact between two mechanical elements. The electromechanical relays are based on the comparison between operating torque/force and restraining torque/force. Each relay can perform only one protective function. Such relays are used for simple and less costly protection purposes.
