Premium member Presentation Transcript Slide 1: Jesús Luis Moreno, Julio Luengo Delgado y David Varela NaranjoHistory of the University: History of the University In the early 19th century, a group of prominent New York residents from the class of merchants, bankers, and traders established the university on April 18, 1831. These people believed the city needed a university designed for young men who would be admitted based on merit, not social class. In 1832, NYU held its first classes in rented rooms in four-story Clinton Hall, situated near City Hall. Finally the university was situated in the Greenwich Village, a section of Manhattan. One of the men who did this possible was Albert Gallatin, secretary of Treasury under Thomas Jefferson.Slide 4: John Sexton, is the fifteenth and current President of the University. The Office of the President is the highest ranking office at the university, it’s the leader of NYU. Michael Alfano, The Office of the Executive Vicepresident, they will provide high quality, efficient services and systems David W. McLaughlin, The Office of the Provost, is the chief academic officer Bob Berne, The Office of the Executive Vice President for Health,Slide 5: NYU Violets is the name of the sports teams and other competitive teams at New York University. The main colors are white and violet and the school mascot is a bobcat. Sports are separated in groups of men and women. The sports in which they participate are: Basketball, Cross Country, Fencing, Golf, Soccer, Tennis, Wrestling, Hockey, etc. In their web, published the best sportsman and sportswoman of the week.Academics: Academics In this University you can study: Fine Arts Dentistry Nursing Mathematical Sciences Studies of the ancient world Business Right Medicine Education and human developmentFacilities: Facilities It consists of the following: The University has grown to currently 14 schools and partner institutions. It has 6 major centers in Manhattan.
