We Didn’t Start The Fire By: Cody Butler

Edsel Is A No Go : 

Edsel Is A No Go Edsel is made by ford during 1958-1959, and was credited as being one of the worst automobile manufacturing failures in U.S. history. The public was expecting a brand new, out of this world new car, but the Edsel resembled many other ford models before. Needless to say it did not go over so well and hardly any of them sold. Today they are considered classics and are worth quite a lot of money when found in good condition.

Studebaker : 

Studebaker The Studebaker is a united states wagon and automobile manufacture created by Henry Studebaker. The company's best year of sell was in 1950. However, it declined very soon after. The last Studebaker was made in 1966. Today they are considered classic’s and are worth a lot of money.

Psycho : 

Psycho Psycho is a horror movie produced by auteur Alfred Hitchcock. It is inspired by the crimes of Wisconsin murder Ed Gein. The movie received an academy award, and was created as one of Hitchcock's best work. One of the most recognized scenes is the shower scene. It is certainly a genre defining movie.

Malcolm X : 

Malcolm X Malcolm little was born may 19, 1925. He was an American black Muslim minister and a spokesman for Islam. Later on in his life he deiced to leave the nation of Islam. He was known as a worker for civil rights and to some a hero and to other a menace. In 1963 Malcolm was assassinated by Norman Butler and Tomas Johnson. Also Talmadge Hayer confessed to killing Malcolm and said that the other two where not present so a lot of conspiracy theories formed.

Bardot : 

Bardot Bridget Bardot is a French actress, and singer. She was born on September 28, 1934. She was considered the embodiment of the sex kitten in the 50’s and 60’s. She played in many movies and released many albums. In the 70’s she retired and became and animal activist among other things. In 2007 she was menchined among the 100 sexist movie stars.

Space Monkey : 

Space Monkey To be sure space travel was safe for people, NASA sent numerous animals in to space. One of the most famous animals sent into space was Albert the rhesus monkey who died of suffocation during flight. Able, a rhesus monkey, and Mrs. Baker, a squirrel monkey, where the first monkeys to complete a flight. Some may think it was cruel to send these animal into space, but if they hadn’t, then we may have never reached space.

Children of Thalidomide : 

Children of Thalidomide Thalidomide is a sedative, hypnotic drug that causes birth defects when taken when pregnant. It was sold mainly from the late 50’s to the early 60’s. It was used as a cure for morning sickness. Between 1956 and 1962 about 10,000 kids where born with severe malformations. After all of these incidents the U.S. congress decide to out law the drug. Today there is some uses for thalidomide, but not for pregnant women.

Woodstock : 

Woodstock The Woodstock Music and Art Fair was an event held at Max Yasgur’s 600 acre dairy farm in Bethel New York. It lasted form August 15 to August 18, 1969. The festival was the climax of the “Hippy Era.” It had a total of 32 artist including Jimmy Hendrix. About 500,000 people showed up in the dreary weather. There where two deaths at Woodstock: one by a heroin over dose, and a second by a occupied sleeping bag ran over by a tractor. In the end Woodstock was a success for the peace and love movement.

Buddy Holly : 

Buddy Holly Charles Harding was born September 7, 1936. He was created as a pioneer to rock and roll even though he was only famous for a year and one-half. He died in an air plane crash on February 3, 1959. His music later influenced such artist as: The Beatles and the Rolling Stones. In 2004 Rolling Stone magazine named Buddy as the 13th of the 100 greatest artist ever.

Bob Dylan : 

Bob Dylan Bob Dylan ( Robert Allen Zimmerman) was born may 24, 1941. Most of his well known song where written in the 60’s. Some of his song’s are: “The Times They Are A-Changing,” and “Blowin’ in the Wind.” These songs became anthems of anti-war and the civil rights movements. His latest album out was “Modern Times” on August 26, 2006. He then became the oldest person to a new album become a number one hit.

British Beatlmania : 

British Beatlmania The Beatles where a pop, rock band form Liverpool, England. They where credited for starting the British invasion. They have released more than 40 singles, albums, and EPs that have reached number one. By 1985 they had released an estimated one billion records world wide. They where voted number band by Rolling Stone magazine. When they first came to America the teens where the ones who loved the Beatles, not the adults. Most of them hated the Beatles creating a huge generation gap. Today only Paul McCartney and Ring Star are alive.

Punk Rock : 

Punk Rock Punk rock is an anti-establishment rock music genre and movement that emerged in the mid-1970’s. It was supposed to be aggressive and modern. It first developed in the U.S., U.K., and Australia. The Ramones, the Clash, and the Sex pistols where some of the bands that started every thing off. The pure punk scene did not last long, it soon turned to hardcore punk and then to alternative rock and then to pop punk which include bands such as Green Day.

The Catcher In The Rye : 

The Catcher In The Rye The novel was written by J.D. Salinger in 1951. It is challenged very often because of its liberal use of profanity, portrayal of sexuality, and teenage angst. Although it is opposed so strongly, nearly 250,000 copies are sold each year. The Time magazine named it one of the 100 best books from 1923 to 2005. The book is about someone who lives in New York after being kicked out of a prep school.

Crack : 

Crack Crack was first introduced in the 1980’s. It is made by mixing baking soda, water and powder cocaine. It gets it name from the sound it makes during the solidifying process. Crack is a fairly cheep drug and is popular to drug partakers in urban areas. Crack releases dopamine into the brain so it is nearly impossible quit once started. Because of this it has become an extreme problem for the police.

Heavy Metal Suicide : 

Heavy Metal Suicide Kurt Donald Cobain was born February 20, 1967 and was the lead singer and guitarist for Nirvana. Kurt and Krist Novoselic started the band in 1987. In 1991 they made the album “Smells Like Teen Sprit.” This marked the start of a shift from 80’s hair bands to grunge and alternative rock. Kurt was addicted to drugs and in 1994 he shot himself with a shot gun. Years later his death became very controversial. Some would say his wife, Courtney love, killed him.
