GREEN BUILDING:

GREEN BUILDING “It is the practice of increasing efficiency with which buildings use resources- energy, water and materials-while reducing building impacts on human health and the environment.” `` Green building technology should reach all'' 4

Concept:

Concept  The `Green Building' concept is gaining importance in various countries, including India. These are buildings that ensure that waste is minimized at every stage during the construction and operation of the building, resulting in low costs, according to experts in the technology. 5

Continue…:

Continue… The techniques associated with the `Green Building' include measures, To prevent erosion of soil. Rainwater harvesting. Use of solar energy. Preparation of landscapes to reduce heat. Reduction in usage of water. Recycling of waste water and use of world class energy efficient practices. A similar concept is  natural building , which is usually on a smaller scale and tends to focus on the use of  natural materials that are available locally. 6

How To Make Green Building?:

How To Make Green Building? A green building is a structure that is environmentally responsible and resource-efficient throughout its life-cycle. OBJECTIVES Expand and complement the classical building design, concerns of economy, utility, durability and comfort. 7

Source of Material:

Source of Material Renewable sources: Forests Reuse from waste: old plumbing , doors etc.. 8/17/2013 10

Wool brick:

Wool brick Obtained  by adding wool and a natural polymer found in seaweed to the clay of the brick,  37% More strength than burnt bricks Resistant for cold and wet climate 8/17/2013 11

Sustainable Concrete:

Sustainable Concrete  Crushed glass    Wood chips or slag - a byproduct of steel manufacturing . Reduces the emission of CO2 8/17/2013 12

Solar Tiles:

Solar Tiles  Exist to simply protect a building They spend a large portion of the day absorbing energy from the sun.    8/17/2013 13

Paper Insulation:

Paper Insulation Made from recycled newspapers and cardboard Then filled with chemical foam Insect resistant &fire retardant 8/17/2013 14

Triple-Glazed Windows:

Triple-Glazed Windows Super-efficient windows Stops heat to enter the building & from direct sunlight 8/17/2013 15

Eco Friendly:

Eco Friendly Using Bamboo Replacing The Steel Bars 8/17/2013 16

Social benefits :

Social benefits Enhance occupant comfort and health Heighten aesthetic qualities Minimize strain on local infrastructure Improve overall quality of life 17

Environmental benefits:

18 Environmental benefits Enhance and protect biodiversity and ecosystems Improve air and water quality Reduce waste streams Conserve and restore natural resources

Economic benefits :

Economic benefits Reduce operating costs Create, expand, and shape markets for green product and services Improve occupant productivity Optimize life-cycle economic performance 19

PowerPoint Presentation:

DEMERITS OF GREEN BUILDING: INITIAL COST IS HIGH AVAILABILITY OF MATERIALS NEED MORE TIME TO CONSTRUCT NEED SKILED WORKER 23

Cost and payoff :

24 Cost and payoff The most criticized issue about constructing environmentally friendly buildings is the price. Photo- voltaics , new appliances, and modern technologies tend to cost more money . Most green buildings cost a premium of <2%, but yield 10 times as much over the entire life of the building. It is projected that different sectors could save $130 Billion on energy bills . Also, higher worker or student productivity can be factored into savings and cost deductions. Studies have shown over a 20 year life period, some green buildings have yielded $53 to $71 per square foot back on investment .  LEED and Energy Star certified buildings achieve significantly higher rents, sale prices and occupancy rates as well as lower capitalization rates potentially reflecting lower investment risk.

PowerPoint Presentation:

Suzlon Energy Limited - Pune Suzlon’s global headquarter in Pune - “One Earth” - ever since the facility has been LEED ‘Platinum ’ rated and certified as an eco-friendly building by the Green Building Council. Built to perfection on an area of 41,000 square meters (10.13 acres), One Earth can be counted as among the largest green building projects in India .

Biodiversity Conservation India Ltd (BCIL) - Bangalore:

Biodiversity Conservation India Ltd (BCIL) - Bangalore The company’s TZed homes in Whitefield, Bangalore has been certified as the first residential apartment in the world to be rated ‘Platinum’ under LEED. TZed , which means “Towards Zero Energy Development ” is a 2,49,000 sq.ft . green project spread across 5.5 acres and is designed to reduce lighting and energy by nearly 70 per cent . No home at BCIL TZed Homes uses incandescent lamps, halogens and fluorescent tubelights

ITC Green Centre - Gurgaon:

ITC Green Centre - Gurgaon It was the first 'Platinum ' rated building in India. Within a built-in area of 180,000 sq.ft ., The building features alternative transportation facilities, storm water management system, solar thermal technology, reflective high- albedo roof paint, minimal exterior lighting, separate smoking rooms with exhaust system and zero-water discharge More than 10% of the building materials are refurbished from other sites and 40% are from within 500 miles of the project site

The Druk White Lotus School - Ladakh:

The Druk White Lotus School - Ladakh In this desert landscape of severe climatic conditions, 3,500 meters above sea level, was born a modest school . This multi-award winning structure is the recipient of the Best Asian Building, Best Education Building and Best Green Building awards. It combines the best of traditional Ladakhi architecture with 21st century engineering excellence . Traditional mud brick masonry is used internally to provide increased thermal performance and durability

CONCLUSION::

CONCLUSION: 31 Nowadays, we should make a way to maximize our natural resources and also help our mother earth to get some relief since pollution is everywhere plus the global warming that we are all experiencing. Non-renewable energy is expensive and unsafe but did you know that through green building we can save a lot of energy. Before that, let's define first the meaning of green building (know also as green construction is the practice of creating structures and using processes that are environmentally responsible and resource-efficient throughout a building's life-cycle: from siting to design, construction, operation, maintenance, renovation, and deconstruction. The importance of this is it lessen the consume of energy and the pollution as well because the more we use nonrenewable energy the higher the risk of pollution.
