Facts about San Fernando Rey De Espana This mission was founded in September 8 th 1797.the name means St. Ferninand, King of Spain (1217-1252).It’s located on Mission Drive, 1 ½ miles west of the city San Fernando. It was founded by Father Fermin lausen. In that busy Summer of 1797 for Father Lansen he found his fourth new mission in a large valley discovered on an early expidition .

Due to attactiveness of the valley the mission was actually much closer to San Gabriel. Today it’s aproximitly close to hollywood which has allowed It to be used for many movie shootings. Barrack houses are for nearly 1,000 neophytes (Christian Native Americans) workrooms and storerooms surrounded The quadrangle.This was his fourth new mission that he founded already.
