1st Club service. :

What makes Rotary so different ? - By Michel P. Jazzar 1st Club service. The first Rotary club was organized in Chicago in 1905, by Paul P. Harris, Avocat. The 1st club, with four members, met in rotation at the offices of the members - thus the name Rotary.

"Service Above Self" :

What makes Rotary so different ? - By Michel P. Jazzar "Service Above Self" Rotary is a service organization, not a charity group. The weekly meetings provide fellowship, guest speakers, and a place for members to share ideas. While Rotarians frequently do business with other Rotarians from a "network" basis, you will not see Rotarians passing out their business cards at a Rotary meeting or openly promoting their business.

What makes Rotary so different ? - By Michel P. Jazzar Le Rotary est une philosophie:La philosophie du Service Ernst G. Breitholtz, president of Rotary International in 1971-72, once said, “Rotary is not an organization; Rotary is a philosophy.” Rotary is a philosophy of life that undertakes to reconcile the ever present conflict between the desire to profit for one’s self and the duty and consequent impulse to serve others. This philosophy is the philosophy of service — “Service Above Self.” MOP 2004 – Community Service

Way of life :

What makes Rotary so different ?

What makes Rotary so different ?

Slide 18:

Vision: The term "vision" suggests a mental picture of what the future organization will look like. Goals [goals, objectives] Strategy [ways/planning process, means/resources] While mission statements guide the organization in its day-to-day operations, visions provide a sense of direction in the long term -- they provide the means to the future. Rotary Standard of ExcellenceThe Four Way Test :

What makes Rotary so different ? - By Michel P. Jazzar Rotary Standard of ExcellenceThe Four Way Test Of the things we think, say, or do … - Is it the TRUTH? - Is it FAIR to all concerned? - Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? - Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

DECLARATION OF ROTARIANS IN BUSINESSES AND PROFESSIONS :

What makes Rotary so different ? - By Michel P. Jazzar DECLARATION OF ROTARIANS IN BUSINESSES AND PROFESSIONS As a Rotarian engaged in a business or profession, I am expected to: 1) consider my vocation to be another opportunity to serve; 2) be faithful to the letter and to the spirit of the ethical codes of my vocation, to the laws of my country, and to the moral standards of my community; 3) do all in my power to dignify my vocation and to promote the highest ethical standards in my chosen vocation; 4) be fair to my employer, employees, associates, competitors, customers, the public, and all those with whom I have a business or professional relationship; 5) recognize the honor and respect due to all occupations which are useful to society; 6) offer my vocational talents: to provide opportunities for young people, to work for the relief of the special needs of others, and to improve the quality of life in my community; 7) adhere to honesty in my advertising and in all representations to the public concerning my business or profession; 8) neither seek from nor grant to a fellow Rotarian a privilege or advantage not normally accorded others in a business or professional relationship. What makes Rotary so different ? - By Michel P. Jazzar

Rotary and Freemasons :

What makes Rotary so different ?

Slide 46:

What makes Rotary so different ?

Rotary and Freemasons :

What makes Rotary so different ? [Le Monde Diplomatique] http://www.monde-diplomatique.fr/1997/09/WAUTHIER/9067 Rotary and Freemasons

Rotary and Freemasons :

What makes Rotary so different ? Rotary and Freemasons
