Founded 23rd February 1905:

Founded 23 rd February 1905 Paul Harris (lawyer), Sylvester Schiele , Gus Loehr & Hiram Shorey met in Gus’ office in the Unity Building at 127 North Dearborn St, Chicago. Sylvester was the 1 st Rotary club president. 16 Clubs formed the National Organization in 1910 Rotary became International in 1911 with Winnipeg, Canada’s Charter with Paul Harris as RI’s 1 st President

What is the purpose of Rotary?:

What is the purpose of Rotary? Rotary clubs exist to improve communities through a range of humanitarian, intercultural and educational activities . Clubs advance international understanding by partnering with clubs in other countries. Rotary also encourages high ethical standards in all vocations.

Object of Rotary:

Object of Rotary FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service ; SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society; THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian’s personal, business and community life; FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service .

PROPOSING NEW MEMBER:

59 PROPOSING NEW MEMBER Procedure Name is submitted to the club’s board of directors The board insures: The person is fully qualified Approves or disapproves within 30 days 3. After approval: If no oral or written objections to the proposal are received within 7 days, the proposer is notified of the decision by the club secretary and the prospective member is fully informed. He / she completes the membership proposal form and gives written permission to publish his / her name and classification. He / she, upon payment of an admission fee , becomes a new Rotarian The club secretary sends a completed new member report form to Rotary International
