Presentation Description

My brother put together this energy drink presentation for his jr. high school health class and asked if I'd share it for him. He thinks that energy drinks are amazing, so he decided to do a report for extra credit that outlined what were in some of his favorites, and what the ingredients did to his body.

Energy Drink Ingredients: Caffeine Stimulates the central nervous system giving the body a sense of alertness. Large doses can lead to sleeplessness, heart palpitations, headaches, nausea, and most commonly the jitters Taurine Naturally produced amino acid that regulated heartbeat, muscle contractions, and energy levels Guarana A source of caffeine and 2 other stimulants ( theobromine and theophylline) B Vitamins Assist in the conversion of food to energy Ginseng Herb that may stimulate the hypothlamic and pituitary glands, potentially reducing fatigue, relieving stress, and increasing memory Ginko Biloba May reduce memory loss, increase concentration, and reduce depression L- Carnitine Amino acid created by the liver and kidneys to boost metabolism and endurance Sugars Glucose is the body’s preferred fuel, spiking energy levels when consumed. Can lead to a “crash” feeling

PowerPoint Presentation:

Energy Drink Ingredients: Glucuronolactone Produced when glucose (sugars) are broken down by the liver; aides in the detoxification of muscle and connective tissues Yerba Mate Another source of caffeine thought to have less side effects than the caffeine found in coffee and guarana Milk Thistle Detoxifies the liver Inositol Aides the nervous system and helps modulate serotonin Maltodextrine A sugar-like additive that can be quickly absorbed by the body Citicoline May support brain function and neurotransmission Malic Acid Produced by the body when converting carbohydrates into energy Tyrosine Amino Acid involved in neurotransmission (typically found in meat, dairy, and fish) Phenylalanine Amino acid that may serve as an analgesic and antidepressant
