Slide 6:

One Minute Recognition Knowing the people   If what’s promised on the job description did not come true and your entire internship is mostly about idling, don’t stay down. It’s time to figure something else out. And lucky me, I didn’t have to figure it out, I was already told that going to India is not about working, it’s about getting to know the people around you. So here I was, hanging out with other interns. But it doesn’t stop there, I had also visited various Government facilities in Bareilly --- meeting officials, CEOs, journalists, doctors and many other professions. Did I enjoy it? Well, can’t say that I didn’t. But that’s not the reason why I was in India. The Bareilly Interns with the NGO’s CEO Brian Kwok’s Exchange Experience

Slide 7:

One Minute Recognition Enjoying the Indian culture   Except the tough experience in negotiating for work and half of the team leaving the internship early, the general culture in India is wonderful. Indians are always friendly and hospitable, save those cheaters who are trying to earn more money. Just look at the way random people asking for me to take a photo with them. This is what you would expect when you are travelling, the locals would always treat you as a foreigner and you are always a pleasant scene to them. Taking photos with Indians sleeping in the Taj Mahal (left); Hanah on my palm and count the number of Indians who are staring at us (right). Brian Kwok’s Exchange Experience

Slide 8:

One Minute Recognition It’s not home.   Just remember, if you are ever going to India, expect vehicles to be speeding at you and every single vehicles would honk every minute; flies to be everywhere, and cow poo poo too; over-charged for everything from your first day to the very last day of your exchange; being harassed; everybody jumping the queue and pushing you forward while you are in a queue; nobody keep their promises; everything is delayed (could be for days). Once you know India is not Hong Kong, you would start enjoying your experience in India. Brian Kwok’s Exchange Experience
