When it’s a smaller number, we can tell at a glance… For example, we can easily identify as thirty-four – we say it without thinking. Trick question… Do you read a number from left to right or from right to left? 34 Slide 5: The answer is BOTH! Before we can read a number we need to know the place value of each digit.
