Top Ten Driving Tips for a Safe & Secure Driving:

Top Ten Driving Tips for a Safe & Secure Driving 1 - Both the side view and rear mirrors have to be properly adjusted 2 – Always use the seat belts 3 – Do not get distracted while driving 4 – Drive in a relaxed manner having proper anticipation of traffic situations 5 – Effective use of gears 6 – It is safe to maintain a three seconds distance between two vehicles 7 – Selectively switch off your car engine 8 – Appropriately use the built-up energy and momentum of the vehicle 9 – Remove additional weight from your vehicle 10 – Check you tyre pressure regularly CHANDRA TOYOTA

:

Guideline 1- Both the side view and rear mirrors have to be properly adjusted: Before you start the vehicle, you need to adjust both your side view as well as rear mirrors to ensure that you get the correct angles which would maximize your visual range. It is necessary to get unobstructed and clear view from your back window as well as the sides of your vehicle. CHANDRA TOYOTA

PowerPoint Presentation:

Guideline 2 – Always use the seat belts: Seat belts significantly reduce chances of meeting with death or getting seriously injured, if accidents occur. You should not only fasten your seat belt before starting the vehicle but also ensure that all other occupants in the car do the same. CHANDRA TOYOTA

PowerPoint Presentation:

Guideline 3 – Do not get distracted while driving: While driving, you need to be completely attentive, because distraction can increase chances of having an accident. Try to avoid adjusting your car stereo system, communicating on handsets or chatting with fellow passengers etc. These are distractive activities that can increase the probability of accidents. CHANDRA TOYOTA

PowerPoint Presentation:

Guideline 4 – Drive in a relaxed manner having proper anticipation of traffic situations: You should avoid constantly speeding and braking the vehicle. If you have to change lanes, due to obstructions ahead, do so by using the turn indicators. Do not indulge in a racing game with other drivers. Guideline 5 – Effective use of gears: Shifting to the next gear should only be done when 2000-2500rpm is reached by the engine. The engine speed should be maintained uniformly at 2000rpm or below. Start your vehicle at 1st gear, change to the 2nd gear only after one car length, and use the 3rd and 4th gears at 30kmph and 40kmph respectively. Shift to 5th or higher gears only after reaching 50kmph. CHANDRA TOYOTA 4-speed automatic transmission

PowerPoint Presentation:

Guideline 6 – It is safe to maintain a three seconds distance between two vehicles: It is advisable to maintain a relatively safe distance between the vehicles that you are driving from the one just ahead so that you can avoid crashing if the front car suddenly stops. Try to maintain a 3 second gap from the vehicle ahead of you, on days of poor weather and low visibility, this gap has to be increased to 6 seconds. CHANDRA TOYOTA

PowerPoint Presentation:

Guideline 7 – Selectively switch off your car engine: You can identify appropriate situations that require more than 20 seconds of stoppage and switch off your engine in that situation to save fuel. You can switch the engine off when you are loading or unloading your car, in traffic lights, when in severe traffic jams, at railway crossings and the likes. Guideline 8 – Appropriately use the built-up energy and momentum of the vehicle: You can stop using the accelerator and roll along with ongoing traffic while approaching red lights, before changing the vehicle direction, in traffic jams and when approaching “Stop” signs. CHANDRA TOYOTA Push Start / Stop

PowerPoint Presentation:

Guideline 9 – Remove additional weight from your vehicle: With the addition of 20kg weight, fuel consumption increases by 1%. Hence, you should remove those weights that lie unnecessarily in the vehicle. Racks on the roof and the rear should be taken off when not in use. Guideline 10 – Check you tyre pressure regularly: The tyres should be regularly checked and the pressure should be appropriately adjusted for increasing safety as well as saving fuel. Plying the vehicle with correct pressure on tyres can increase fuel economy 1% to 3%. CHANDRA TOYOTA

Drive safely on city roads :

Drive safely on city roads CHANDRA TOYOTA

Drive safely on city roads:

Drive safely on city roads 1. Stay Highly Alert when Driving 2. Novice Drivers need to be extra cautious 3. Give preference to small cars 4. Automatic-Transmission the better choice 5. The Mileage Factor 6. Avoid Lane switching 7. Installation of Safety Features CHANDRA TOYOTA

PowerPoint Presentation:

Driving on the city road can be a painful exercise, especially during peak traffic hours. It is highly challenging to navigate your car through congested roads and the problem compounds if you are travelling through unknown territory. Particularly in India, you will definitely come across congested expressways, innumerable red lights, continuous construction work and many unfamiliar routes. This makes drivers angry and run out of patience. However, there are certain measures, which if employed, can make driving in the city an easier exercise. Stay Highly Alert when Driving: City roads are congested with different modes of traffic including buses, trucks, cars, scooters as well as pedestrians. Hence, one needs to be highly alert and keep an eye in all directions, before taking turns. The alertness should be at its peak in junctions, as most vehicles move in simultaneously from different ends. . Novice Drivers need to be extra cautious: Difficulty of driving is compounded if the person driving is relatively new or does not know the routes. It is very difficult reading signs on city roads while driving particularly when the road spreads out to multiple directions at junctions. Therefore, the driver needs to be highly vigilant during these circumstances. Give preference to small cars: If you need the car for communicating within the city on a daily basis, it is more sensible to go for a smaller variant. In peak traffic hours, the roads are always clogged; hence having a small car to negotiate the traffic is much easier compared to larger sedan-like vehicles. Also, the parking sites are customized mainly to entertain smaller cars.

PowerPoint Presentation:

Automatic-Transmission the better choice: Though cars having manual-transmission offer better driving experience, it is advisable to go for vehicles with automatic-transmission in areas of higher traffic, though only a few such cars are available in India as of today. The Mileage Factor: Since one is not expected to drive the car in high speed on city roads, one should try and maintain constant speed. This is because speeding followed by immediate slowing of vehicles impacts their mileage. Frequent starting and stopping also hits hard on the fuel economy aspect. Hence, one should drive at a constant speed, as much as possible, for saving fuel. Avoid Lane switching: Changing lanes frequently in congested roads increase risks of accidents. Agreed that you can reach your destination faster but you also increase the risks of colliding with other vehicles. Installation of Safety Features: It is always advisable to have safety features installed in your car. Normally, city driving would require features like car-alarms, anti-lock braking, theft prevention devices and starter disabling switch. This not only ensures safety while driving but also can help bring down the risks of theft of your vehicle. City driving can be a bit of a risk. But by being alert, you can ensure performing the same in a safe man. CHANDRA TOYOTA

GUIDELINES FOR NIGHT DRIVING:

GUIDELINES FOR NIGHT DRIVING CHANDRA TOYOTA

PowerPoint Presentation:

Prepare your car for night driving. Clean headlights, taillights, signal lights and windows (inside and out) once a week, more often if necessary. Have your headlights properly aimed. Misaimed headlights blind other drivers and reduce your ability to see the road. Don't drink and drive. Not only does alcohol severely impair your driving ability, it also acts as a depressant. Just one drink can induce fatigue. CHANDRA TOYOTA

PowerPoint Presentation:

Avoid smoking when you drive. Smoke's nicotine and carbon monoxide hamper night vision. If there is any doubt, turn your headlights on. Lights will not help you see better in early twilight, but they'll make it easier for other drivers to see you. Being seen is as important as seeing. Reduce your speed and increase your following distances. It is more difficult to judge other vehicle's speeds and distances at night. CHANDRA TOYOTA

PowerPoint Presentation:

Don't overdrive your headlights. You should be able to stop inside the illuminated area. If you're not, you are creating a blind crash area in front of your vehicle. When following another vehicle, keep your headlights on low beams so you don't blind the driver ahead of you. If an oncoming vehicle doesn't lower beams from high to low, avoid glare by watching the right edge of the road and using it as a steering guide. Make frequent stops for light snacks and exercise. If you're too tired to drive, stop and get some rest. If you have car trouble, pull off the road as far as possible. Warn approaching traffic at once by setting up reflecting triangles near your vehicle and 300 feet behind it. Turn on flashers and the dome light. Stay off the roadway and get passengers away from the area. Observe night driving safety as soon as the sun goes down. Twilight is one of the most difficult times to drive, because your eyes are constantly changing to adapt to the growing darkness. CHANDRA TOYOTA

CAR MAINTAINANCE TIPS IN THE SUMMERS:

CAR MAINTAINANCE TIPS IN THE SUMMERS CHANDRA TOYOTA

CAR MAINTAINANCE TIPS IN THE SUMMERS:

CAR MAINTAINANCE TIPS IN THE SUMMERS 1. Gimme fuel 2. Get it serviced 3. Watch the cool 4. Tyre health 5. Windshield-wiper blades 6. Keep It Light 7. Keep it Clean 8. Watch the speed, mister 9. Park at a shady spot CHANDRA TOYOTA

PowerPoint Presentation:

To increase your car’s life, you need to take some measures to protect it from the Indian summer’s torturous heat. We give you some suggestions to take care of your car and keep it healthy Gimme fuel Check your car’s fuel tank regularly. Check the quantity of oil in it after letting the car engine run for some time. It should be clean on the testing stick and also at a proper level. In fact, this is one of the most important factors to keep in mind about your car’s condition in the summer.  Check the hose connections in your cars more frequently during summer for any leaks or damages. CHANDRA TOYOTA

PowerPoint Presentation:

Get it serviced It is very important to regularly take your car for servicing during the summer. Stopping at a service station will boost the fuel economy of your car by at least 4-12 per cent. So do not forget to make a trip to the nearest service station for your car every once in a while. Watch the cool In the blistering heat, you don’t want to be left without air-conditioning in your. So, always ensure that your car’s air conditioning system is working fine. In case you notice cold vapors flowing out from the outlets, immediately get a mechanic to look into the system- it might be because of low refrigerant levels. CHANDRA TOYOTA

PowerPoint Presentation:

Tyre health The extreme heat significantly increases the air pressure in your car’s tires. The Indian summer is usually accompanied by occasional rains, which team with overinflated tires to cause hydroplaning. So it’s advisable to keep on eye on your tire pressure and get it checked if you’re taking the car on long trips. Also, remember to test your spare tire when you go on long drives- you may need it for emergencies. Keep It Light Did you know that just an extra 100 pounds of burden on your car can bring down its mileage by up to 2%?  Remove any unnecessary things that you might have stuffed into the car and forgotten about. Its good to keep your car as clean as possible. But don’t get carried away with your cleaning spree, leave your bare necessities in the car emergency kit. You really cannot do without those! CHANDRA TOYOTA

PowerPoint Presentation:

Windshield-wiper blades If your windshield-wiper blades are nearing the end of their product lives, get a new pair. You never know when storm clouds will appear overhead and you’re stuck in a thundershower. Visibility is very important in such weather conditions and a working pair of windshield-wiper blades is your best bet to safety.  If your car’s existing wiper blades are pretty new, then clean them regularly using a washer solvent of good quality. CHANDRA TOYOTA

PowerPoint Presentation:

Keep it Clean If you get to have a bath everyday (we hope you do!), it is only fair that your car gets a bath too, atleast on every alternate day. A proper car wash during a hot summer day helps your car beat the heat. In addition, the exterior paint of your car must also be protected. A proper car wax will do the job. Watch the speed, mister While driving on a hot summer day, do not go too fast. Driving at high speeds significantly affects your car’s mileage. In fact, even when it’s not summer, your car’s mileage takes a hit when you drive at high speeds. CHANDRA TOYOTA

PowerPoint Presentation:

Park at a shady spot You need to choose the right spot to park your car during a hot summer day. The excessive heat might lead to increased evaporation of your car’s fuel. So always remember to park your car in a shady location- under a tree or in the shadow of a building. You should also consider buying a good windshield shade which will keep the sun’s rays away from filtering into your car’s interiors through the windshield. Your car is meant to be treasured, like a part of your own body. It may be pretty rough and tough from the outside but it too needs some care and protection. Keep these tips in mind and rest assured, you AND your car will definitely beat the heat! CHANDRA TOYOTA

CAR MAINTANANCE TIPS IN THE COLD 1. Battery condition 2. Engine oil and coolant 3. Windshield wipers and washer fluid 4. Use the AC to demist windscreen 5. Use fog lamps 6. Tyre condition CHANDRA TOYOTA

PowerPoint Presentation:

Winter is here and as temperatures dip in the northern parts of India, it’s good to be well prepared to avoid any car gremlins that can crop up. Just a little bit of attention to your car can make sure it stays trouble-free through winter and you too have a comfortable time driving during the cold weather. Here is a list of things you need to check to keep your car in great condition during the cold season. Battery condition Get your car battery checked and top up with the required amount of distilled water. If your battery is due for replacement, it would be a good idea to replace it now, as cold starts demand a lot more current from the battery. If you’re not too sure about the health of your car battery, but don’t want to be left stranded, it would be a good idea to stock a pair of jumper cables with you. These can not only help jump start your car if the battery is dead, you could probably help out a fellow motorist in need. CHANDRA TOYOTA

PowerPoint Presentation:

Engine oil and coolant Check the engine oil of the car. If it’s nearing time for an oil change it’s better to get the oil changed before the actual cold sets in. If possible (and is within manufacturer’s recommendations), use a wider-grade viscosity of oil (like 5W-40 instead of 15W-40 grade) during the really cold months, especially if you live in an area where temperatures dip to 0 deg C. The lower viscosity helps in circulating the oil in a cold engine faster than if the oil is thicker, which will help the engine’s life span. Check the radiator coolant and add the required amount to top it up. While the coolant serves the purpose of cooling the engine, it also prevents the radiator water from freezing up in extreme temperatures. And coolant also has a role to play in the heating of your car. When you use the car’s heater facility (if equipped), warm coolant from the engine circulates into the passenger cabin, warming the air that’s blown through your AC ducts. Most cars sold in India have this facility, while some higher end cars have an electric heater. CHANDRA TOYOTA

PowerPoint Presentation:

Windshield wipers and washer fluid On cold mornings, windshield wipers and washer fluid are going to be of constant use to you. Check your wiper blades to see if they are hard or cracked. Replace them before winter or before the rainy season. It’s good practice to replace your wiper blades once a year. Top up your windshield washer tank with filter water. You can add a commercial windshield washer solution to it or just use a drop of dish-wash liquid (don’t use shampoos as some leave an oily film). Make sure the washer nozzles are clean. Use a safety pin to clean and adjust the nozzle direction, so that it sprays directly halfway up the windscreen and not over the roof of the car drenching some poor motorcyclist behind. CHANDRA TOYOTA

PowerPoint Presentation:

Use the AC to demist windscreen Many tend not to use the AC in the car during the cold season. This can lead to the AC not performing effectively when the summer months come, especially in older cars, as hoses and joints become brittle due to disuse. It’s a good idea to use the AC to demist the windscreen. Set the temperature knob to a warmer setting (or set a higher temperature in cars with climate control), turn the air-flow knob to the windscreen setting and turn on the AC. The AC helps to dry the air and dehumidify the car, removing mist formation from the windscreen effectively. In general practice, run the AC for 10 minutes in the car every day through winter (you can set the temperature to a warmer setting, but switch on the compressor). CHANDRA TOYOTA

PowerPoint Presentation:

Use fog lamps Fog lamps, if equipped, should be used for the primary purpose they are there for – in fog. They do not necessarily help you see any better than you can otherwise, but they will help other drivers see you better in fog. If you don’t have fog lamps drive with the headlamps on in low beam to similar effect. Avoid high beam, as you’ll only blind yourself with the light reflection from the fog. The practice of using yellow lights helps because yellow doesn’t reflect as much white light. Rear fog lamps (a 21-watt bulb in a red lamp) help warn drivers of cars following you of your presence. Avoid using the hazard lights, unless there really is a hazard, as it confuses drivers of other cars as to whether you’re stopped or moving, and it makes it impossible to signal a turn. Generally fog lamps need to be mounted low on the vehicle, because this causes the least reflection to the driver from the fog and can illuminate the road directly in front of the car for a short distance effectively. Make sure all the lights, especially the brake lamps, in the car are in working condition. Replace bulbs if needed. Carry a set of spare headlamp bulbs. CHANDRA TOYOTA

PowerPoint Presentation:

Tyre condition It’s needless to say tyres need to be properly inflated and have the right amount of tread on them at all times. But this is more so in winter, as it can be quite frustrating to be caught out on a cold morning with a flat tyre . If you have tubeless tyres , do buy an air pump as well that can run off the 12V power socket in your car. This portable air pump can save you the hassle of having to change a wheel in the biting cold, as it can fill enough air to get you to the nearest tyre repair shop, without dirtying your hands. Those who live in areas that get snow, should consider getting a pair of snow chains for the peak winter months and also carry a small shovel and a little wooden plank in the car to get out of sticky situations CHANDRA TOYOTA

THE BEST TIPS ON SAVING PRECIOUS FUEL:

THE BEST TIPS ON SAVING PRECIOUS FUEL CHANDRA TOYOTA

THE BEST TIPS ON SAVING PRECIOUS FUEL:

THE BEST TIPS ON SAVING PRECIOUS FUEL 1. Always check the tire pressure 2. Stick to the specifications 3. Air-filter check 4. Clean out that extra from your car 5. Go easy 6. Accelerate in a smooth fashion 7. Follow the truck technique 8. Feel the nature 9. Downsize your ride or go hybrid 10. The best- Don’t Drive CHANDRA TOYOTA

PowerPoint Presentation:

With the rising price of fuel everywhere, it has literally become a menace to drive around knowing that very soon you have to empty your wallet or swipe you card to refill that fuel tank of yours, which is truly annoying, but a necessity which you can’t avoid. The excursions on weekends have become more expensive and long drives have become pure luxury now. The students who used to demand cars when they enter junior college seem to have lessened with this escalating price of fuel in the recent years. Now then, whatever you may drive in gasoline, diesel or hybrid; from a compact car to a three- tonne SUV, there are ample opportunities to squeeze a mile or may be two per gallon of fuel. Keeping in view the escalating price of the fuel, an improvement in the mileage of the vehicle like this will surely add up to your savings in the long run. The tips mentioned below has helped me save fuel and thus money very well over the past couple of years now, these can also help you enhance your car’s fuel efficiency and help you save some money while the price is unstable in a negative manner. Most of these ideas will give you a not so significant rise in mileage but if you use many in combination at the same time, the meliorism will certainly add up for good. CHANDRA TOYOTA

PowerPoint Presentation:

1. Always check the tire pressure: The under-inflated tires are one of the very common ignored reasons for improper or negative mileage. The tires lose air with time which is close to 1 psi every month as well as because of the temperature also the tires loose approximately 1 psi for every 10 degree decrease. The rolling resistance of under-inflated tire is more compared to the properly inflated tires. Thus the vehicle has to burn more fuel when the tire is under-inflated, to move ahead at the same speed it requires reaching its destination. You should buy a dependable tire gauge to check your tires at least twice a month with a check done every now and then if you are driving long distance very frequently. Make sure you check the air pressure of tires when they are cold as the tires warm up when the vehicle is in motion which results in a false reading which could be very high psi. You must use the inflation pressures as per mentioned in the owner’s manual or on the vehicle’s data plate which is usually in the jamb of driver’s door. This is something you do before you take out your car for long distance drive on the highway. 2. Stick to the specifications: We all like to do some modifications to our drive with some additional cosmetic and some technical changes here and there. The most common thing which is replaced in a car is always the wheels and tires and with the new ones, they do improve handling in the desired manner of the owner. But if the tires are wider than the previous stock tires the possibility of rolling resistance increase and the fuel

PowerPoint Presentation:

efficiency decreases. If you happen to upgrade your tires and wheels, do make sure that you keep the stock items as well. I have upgraded sports rims and good set of aggressive tires on my car but I have the stock items in the garage as well. For my long road trips, I use the stock wheels for they give a much smoother ride as promised by the car manufacturing firm as well as a better fuel efficiency. 3. Air-filter check: A dirty and clogged air filter can obstruct the smooth flow of air which is required into the engine; this consequently harms the performance of the vehicle and makes it less economical fuel wise. You can check the condition of the air filter easily, all you need to do is just hold it up against the sun and if you can’t see the light coming through the mesh of the air filter, it’s time for a replacement. You may also consider putting in a K&N filter or same kind of permanent filter that is easier to clean in comparison to replace them; these are less restrictive than the paper filters which can be thrown away. Moreover, these are best when considered the environmental issues. CHANDRA TOYOTA

PowerPoint Presentation:

4. Clean out that extra from your car: This is very surprising that we tend to keep a lot of things in our cars, from small accessories to unnecessary spare which we may never need at all or they do not even belong to the car as well. Moreover it never takes much for the car to gain anextra 40 lbs or 50 lbs because of these things. We have a very casual attitude towards it but we never realize that if these items are being tossed out or just put somewhere in the garage or home, it will make the car lighter. A lighter car is much faster with the same volume of fuel consumption or it will burn less fuel on the same speed the car has been running when it had the extra unnecessary weight lugging around. CHANDRA TOYOTA

PowerPoint Presentation:

5. Go easy: Every car has an economic speed bracket where it burns moderate fuel and gives the average mileage which the manufacturer claim. Thus one of the best methods to save fuel is to simply drive in this bracket. But as the speed goes above this bracket the fuel efficiency decreases exponentially. If you tend to drive above this limit on a regular basis you should try the economic speed limit for a few days to feel the difference. You’ll end up saving a good amount of fuel and your travel will not take much time. However, since you are going to be on the economic speed, you may need to keep to the right so you may not impede the speed aficionados. 6. Accelerate in a smooth fashion: The vroom-vroom zoom starters are the true fuel wasters but it doesn’t mean that you must crawl your way from every signal. If you own a car with automatic transmission, accelerate gradually so that the mechanism can shift up smoothly into the top gears. Stick-shifters must shift beforehand to maintain the revs low but that doesn’t mean you lug the engine, do downshift in case you need to go fast. Do CHANDRA TOYOTA

PowerPoint Presentation:

keep a watch over the slowdowns on the road so when you accelerate to speed you may not have to brake immediately, which will waste fuel. 7. Follow the truck technique: Did you ever saw that in a worse traffic jam all the cars seem to immediately speed up and then slow down while the trucks tend to go along at a constant leisurely speed? Let me tell you that a constant pace keeps the gear shifting requirement to a minimum, especially with those trucks which have ten speed transmissions for trucks. But amazingly it helps in adding on to the fuel efficiency since it takes a lot more fuel to make a vehicle move compared to keep it moving. Moving in the same manner as of the trucks saves not only fuel but also aggravation. CHANDRA TOYOTA

PowerPoint Presentation:

8. Feel the nature: You should at times think about shutting off the comfort gadget like the air-conditioner and open up the windows to enjoy the fine breeze coming in. It may be a little warmer for you but at an economical speed you will save further more fuel if you do not use the air conditioning. On a high speed the air condition is more efficient than the wind resistance created due to open sunroof and windows. So it’s always better to have no air conditioning in slow speed but to feel the wind and use it on a high speed because the sunroof and windows has to be closed for maintaining the aerodynamic efficiency of the vehicle which will not put pressure on the engine to burn more fuel. CHANDRA TOYOTA

PowerPoint Presentation:

9. Downsize your ride or go hybrid: If you are looking for new car then it is the right time to re-appraise on how much car and what kind you really require. Small cars save more on fuel for they are light weighted and thus less rolling resistant in comparison to the heavy cars.  Now these day’s small cars are more spacious and safer to drive around. If you have some extra money or you can afford to arrange some more then you should consider going for a hybrid like Toyota Prius C which is a compact car, Prius V which is an SUV sized car or the sporty car of Honda the CR-Z. These hybrid cars are the future of automobile. They run on gas as well as electricity in a perfect sync which saves a lot more fuel than the conventional vehicles. 10. The best- Don’t Drive: Now this is something not everybody would like to do at all; neither is it a popular thing to recommend on an automobile site. But if you can avoid driving at the maximum, you will definitely save on fuel. Instead taking your car you can always go in a carpool or take the public transport and consolidate your trips for shopping. Cycling and walking is excellent for your health and your pocket. The best thing to do here is, before you get into your car to go somewhere, always ask yourself; “Is taking the car really required?” CHANDRA TOYOTA

TIPS ON HOW TO CHECK FOR OVERHEATING TROUBLE:

TIPS ON HOW TO CHECK FOR OVERHEATING TROUBLE CHANDRA TOYOTA

TIPS ON HOW TO CHECK FOR OVERHEATING TROUBLE:

TIPS ON HOW TO CHECK FOR OVERHEATING TROUBLE 1. Water pump problems 2. Thermostat problems 3. Leakage of Coolant 4. Radiator Clogging 5. Radiator Cap seal 6. Non working cooling fan CHANDRA TOYOTA

PowerPoint Presentation:

The one thing that most of the people worry about is overheating in their cars. Often it can be seen in movies about the time when smoke comes out from under the bonnet and the hero rushes off to get some water from the nearby lake. Now, that’s something which can be called as “Filmy”. Not too many people would hand over their cars to complete strangers and go onto search for water or coolant. Any internal combustion engine works by burning fuel. And this energy is used to power the front or rear wheels. But then, the by-product of this is heat. For this very reason, manufacturers provide cooling systems for the engine and corresponding components. Around a hot engine, a cooling liquid is circulated and this liquid is then brought back to the radiator, which is placed in front of the car and once cooled, is sent back to the engine. Like in the older films, most of the Jeeps used water as their cooling liquid whereas modern day cars make do with coolants. One of the major aspects affecting a car’s performance is the overheating problem. It is very nerve wracking to see the needle of the temperature gauge pointing towards the high end. If at all, your car does over heat, the first thing to do is to take it to the side of the road and allow it to cool down by idling. If it still doesn’t cool down enough, then switch off the engine. Once this is done, ask for help from a mechanic or just check for the following steps and if required, lookout for professional help. CHANDRA TOYOTA

PowerPoint Presentation:

Water pump problems : An essential part of the cooling system in a car’s engine is the water pump. The effective circulation of the coolant happens through it. An improperly functioning water pump means that the car wouldn’t be able to run for a few kilometers without stopping for overheating issues. Upon opening the hood, if you find some low pitched grinding noise coming from the water pump pulley bearings or if the opposite ends of the pulley rock back and forth, then it means that the entire pump assembly needs to be replaced or either the bearings have come loose. Well, this cannot be replaced without professional help and hence you should be either calling your friendly mechanic or looking out for the nearest service station. CHANDRA TOYOTA

PowerPoint Presentation:

Thermostat problems : The most common problem to happen in car cooling systems is the thermostat. Usually a thermostat becomes stuck or can even freeze in the closed position. This leads to blockage of the flow of the coolant. Opening up the bonnet of the car reveals various things. Check out for the upper radiator hose. Once the engine has idled enough, the radiator hose should also be on the warmer side. If the upper radiator hose still feels cold, then it means that the thermostat of the car is not working properly. This would require the intervention of professional help. CHANDRA TOYOTA

PowerPoint Presentation:

Leakage of Coolant : Now, the Filmy part. Low coolant levels lead to insufficient cooling of the engine resulting in overheating issues. This is very easy to diagnose since the radiator would be low on fuel and more often than not, the place where your car has been standing for a long time, would have a pool of coolant fluid beneath it. Welds and hoses of the radiator should be checked for any leaks. If there are no visible leaks, then the cooling system pressure needs to be checked at a workshop. It is recommended that two different types of coolants be never mixed. It can be that both aren’t compatible with each other and end up doing more damage than good. The water pump impeller may have corrosion due to this and this would further compound the problem of overheating. There are different color shades available for coolants and this makes it all the more easy to check which one your car uses. Also, if you have already mixed two different types of coolants, then it is time to clean the entire reservoir and fill up coolant from one brand only. CHANDRA TOYOTA

PowerPoint Presentation:

Radiator Clogging : A radiator which is clogged would also be the cause of overheating in the car. Radiator accumulates debris from the road and some rust residues as well. More often than not, this can be attributed to the conditions that the vehicle is driven in and also this tends to happen over a period of time. During regular servicing intervals, the radiator fluid needs to be flushed and if this is not done, then the radiator would be a clogged affair. If the car has ever been involved in a front shunt, then the coolant flow may be restricted due to the damage to the radiator. An easy method to check this is by pressing the hose pipes and see if they have become soft when the car is idling. If they have, then its time to take the car to a workshop and get it cleaned enough. A clean radiator would serve better and most of the overheating problems would tend to vanish. CHANDRA TOYOTA

PowerPoint Presentation:

Radiator Cap seal : Adding pressure to the Radiator system is the radiator cap seal. It works in a similar fashion to the whistle atop a pressure cooker. Moreover, it seals the entire system from the outside environment. The boiling point of the coolant is raised due to this very reason. As a result, the engine operates at higher temperature without any problem. However with the damaged seals of the radiator cap and also a faulty cap, the pressure from the entire system would be lost and also the coolant would boil at a much lower temperature. A radiator cap may seem simple but it has 3 different seals and any one of them could fail leading to lose in the pressure. A failed pressure seal will lead to the coolant boiling at lower temperature thus making the coolant to become foamy. The reason for it to become foamy would be that this coolant would reach the expansion reservoirs causing localized hot spots inside the engine which would speed up the process of head gasket failure. An ill fitting radiator cap would also lead to a failed head gasket. . CHANDRA TOYOTA

Non working cooling fan : A cooling fan gone bad would also lead to overheating. Once the vehicle reaches the desired operating temperature, an electric fan behind the radiator would come on. This happens even when the AC is turned on. If this electric fan doesn’t turn on, its time to get it replaced. When the car is turned off with the engine being still warm, the fan shouldn’t rotate too easily. Areas near the fan clutch should also be checked for any signs of leakage. CHANDRA TOYOTA

We normally just sit in our car and turn the ignition and gear on. We use our weekly off’s to clean and polish our cars to glossy glory so that it will be the centre of attraction, but do we spend our time in looking under the bonnet? The car’s engine is a highly complex mechanical marvel which requires the care and regular checks which is not done until the engine starts making weird noises or it starts to feel underpowered. So are there ways we can save our engines early death? Yes we can do help prolong the engine life by just few simple steps. CHANDRA TOYOTA

Engine Oil - This is the simplest and cheapest, yet vital part in increasing engine life. Every manufacturer specifies a time limit or a distance covered limit whichever is earlier to get the engine oil changed, but many of the mechanic’s ignore it by saying that the engine oil is good and there is no need to change it. It’s a complete wrong notion that many follow, engine oil can lose its lubrication properties over time and hence a specific grade and limit is set by the manufacturer. The engine oil is the only lubrication for an engine so it’s necessary to change it at the specified time and also change the oil filter when you change the oil, because the oil filter is the one who keeps the oil clean from dirt and minute particulates. So the next time you get an oil change get the filter changed as well, and follow the service manual specifications. CHANDRA TOYOTA

PowerPoint Presentation:

Engine Coolant - many times people wonder why do we have to mix this green or orange colour liquid in the cooling system when water is sufficient to do the work, well those people are wrong because water has a boiling temperature of 100 °C (212 °F) whereas when water is mixed with a ratio of 50/50 the boiling temperature is 106 C (223 F) and if its mixed in a ratio of 70/30 where 30% is water the boiling temperature is 106C (223F). Hence it is important to keep the coolant level above the minimum mark and below the maximum mark, because replacement cost and regular maintenance of the cooling system is far cheaper than the cost of repairing a overheated engine. Air Filter - Air is as important as fuel to help the engine run. The air filter is an element in the intake system of the engine that helps clean the air of all the dirt, dust and particles so that the air entering the engine is clean and contains no impurities that may hinder performance or engine life. A clogged or worn out air filter will suffocate the engine of air or may allow debris in the engine, either case it is not good for the car. An air filter life depends on many conditions like driving habits, road condition and many more which may affect the life. So whenever there is an oil change being done it is advisable to get the air filter checked and if necessary replace it with a genuine spare. CHANDRA TOYOTA

Leaks - This is one thing that we can spot easily and don’t need a mechanic degree for it. The last thing you would want is coolant leakage or an oil leakage. Before we drive off it is better to have a look under the car for any puddles of coolant of oils created under the car due to leaks. It’s also better to open the hood and check for leakages or smell for any leaking. Intense heat and pressure can cause the engine hoses to fail overtime. Rubber hoses that are old and cracked can eventually leak necessary liquids. CHANDRA TOYOTA

PowerPoint Presentation:

Gas Tank Filling - Over the years you gas tank has debris and dirt accumulated at the bottom as the fuel we fill in our car no matter where we fill from has sediments. The petrol filter element does it work efficiently and keep dirt out of the fuel lines and engine but in case you are running a lot of times on very low gas your fuel pump will end up sucking the fuel of the gas tank till the last drop and along with that it will also suck the sediments and thus leading to a fuel filter clogging or a fuel pump failure or even much worse it will enter the fuel line and engine. Mechanics and friends will recommend keeping a half-tank of fuel at all times. You may not want to fill-up that often, but make sure that you’re not running the fuel all the way down to a empty fuel tank. Your engine will surely thank you for it. CHANDRA TOYOTA

PowerPoint Presentation:

Belts - The engines of today still use belts to drive parts like water pump, alternator, ac compressor and much more, but these belts also have a limited life span after which they wear out and end up not doing their job efficiently. Hence the manufacturers have always specified the belt changing interval and belt sizes to help get the best out of the engine. These belts are used a lot and a belt if snapped when a engine is running can result in a major engine damage which can be expensive, hence get the belts examined and checked at every service. Squeaky and noisy belts also indicate that the belt tension needs adjusting or replacement. The main belt of all that is expensive and important is the TIMING BELT which needs to be replaced at the specified time with an original belt. . CHANDRA TOYOTA

Warning Lights - Modern day cars have many sensors and computers who manage most of the tuning and more, but at times they also do get spoilt or they find a fault in the system and when they do find this they show it to the driver via a warning light in the meters. There are many warning lights in a car meter like battery not charging, Engine malfunction and more. All these light will glow when there is a problem in the respective system. This warning light may even come up for a small problem but as many say “fix it when the problems are smaller”. Hence when such lights come up, I suggest going and visiting the authorized workshop and get it fixed ASAP CHANDRA TOYOTA

PowerPoint Presentation:

Fuel Filter - As earlier mentioned the fuel filter is the one part that stops the dirt and sediments from entering the fuel lines and engine. It’s a part that has to be replaced and never repaired after it finishes its duty life. This job is better left to a trained mechanic because if the filter is not fitted properly it can leak, also new cars have the fuel filter element fitted along with the fuel pump submerged in the fuel tank. A new fuel filter will ensure clean fuel to the engine and hence your engine will have lesser strain to work. CHANDRA TOYOTA

PowerPoint Presentation:

Start and Stop - Now just imagine you doing a sprint of 100 meters every 2 minutes, won’t that be tiring? In a similar way sudden acceleration and sudden braking is not good for your car engine and brakes. The engine is build to run at high rpm and for a longer life when it’s driven at steady and stable speeds. Constant starts and stops are hard on your engine, so pre-plan your driving route to avoid traffic as much as possible and also maintain constant speeds which will also help achieve a good gas mileage. Sparks - Your car requires a mixture off air an gas which is ignited with the help of a spark plug, but imagine your car is done with some odd kms and your plug and plug wires are old they aren’t providing the required voltage, then your engine will run rough and may even back fire at times. To avoid this many manufacturers recommend the changing of spark plugs and spark plug wires at every 30-40,000 kms . This is not a expensive job but it is a very useful one that will show the difference when you drive after replacing the old ones with new ones. CHANDRA TOYOTA

THINGS TO DO WHEN AN ACCIDENT HAPPEN:

THINGS TO DO WHEN AN ACCIDENT HAPPEN CHANDRA TOYOTA

If you are a first time driver or even a driver with experience, there are many things that usually cannot be avoided and some amongst them are accidents. The WHO or World Health Organization says that Indian roads are one of the worst ones in the world with death tolls reaching 1,30,000 just last year. Well, the country with the largest population in the world, China, has been overtaken by India now. Most of these accidents happen due to incompetent drivers being handed over the driving licenses and general lack and knowledge of rules as also discipline. However the other side of the coin says that Indians should be far more equipped than people from other nations, as far as handling accidents is concerned. However we all know that this is far from the truth. Infact , we don’t even have an emergency number like 911 where we can call and ask for expert advise in case of an accident or any other calamity. Infact in an accident, people don’t rush forward to aid the victim and infact end up checking out who out of the two or multiples involved is the guilty one. Infact , most of the times, one of the victims or person involved in the crash gets a sound treatment (read beating) from the gathered mob. However we have taken the onus upon ourselves to educate you about what to do if an accident were to occur.

PowerPoint Presentation:

If at all your vehicle hits some one, then make sure that you put on your hazard lights and go help the victim. Many would argue that this would mean they are in fault however bear one thing in mind. Many a times even if you are at fault and you help the victim, chances are seeing your good nature, the victim would not press charges against you. Every car carries a first aid kit and if the injured person has minor injuries, then apologize to him and render first aid to him. Most probably, there are some who would feel a bit off the page covering wounds and stuff but do keep in mind that you are doing all this only for the sake of not only saving a human life but also potentially getting yourself away from danger of being put into jail or even fined. Note that if its an accident between two vehicles, then you better take the details of the other person and also the car’s registration number. If in the accident, the injured person appears very serious, then rush him or her immediately to the nearest hospital. As it is, a new ruling by the High Court says that hospital people should first get the victim admitted and then all other formalities can follow including a police report. Once the victim is admitted, do provide your name, address and other details to the matron of the casualty department. In most of the hospitals, there would be a constable stationed just outside the casualty ward and he would be more than glad to take down the details from you. Until the police arrives, do make your presence felt in the hospital premises.

PowerPoint Presentation:

If suppose in an accident, you are surrounded by a mob and are unable to administer first aid to the victim, then call the nearest police station or dial 100 from your mobile phone. Most of the people nowadays use a camera phone and as soon as the person needing your help has been taken care off, do take pictures of both the cars, witnesses and also their names. Register an FIR in the jurisdiction where the accident took place. This would come into picture if there is any major damage to the body or even property damage. For claiming damages done to property necessarily the car, contact your car insurance agent immediately. Many of the insurance companies want that their surveyor should visit that particular spot to survey the nature of the accident. If not done, then the insurance claim wouldn’t be passed enough and you would be still left crying long after the accident has occurred. CHANDRA TOYOTA
