Where to Start : 

In order to create a successful link pyramid you first need to have the following things: Something to market (website, blog, etc..) Good quality keywords for each page Quality Content on all of your pages Keyword Dense content within those pages Desire to be on the first page of Google/Bing! Where to Start

First Layer : 

The first layer obviously starts with your home page. We’ll use www.whiteboardoffice.com as our example website in this process. You first need to determine which keyword you want to get on the first page of your desired search engine. In this example I want to get the phrase white boards on the first page of the search engine. I’m going to focus on white boards until it’s on the first page of the search engine and then I’m going to focus on my second and third keyword phrases. GOALS: Get white boards on the first page of my favorite search engine. First Layer

SECOND LAYER : 

In this case our first category page is labeled “white boards” and we’re going to market for that keyword phrase. You probably noticed that it’s the same keyword as the home page which is normal because if you’re marketing for the phrase then you’re probably going to sell it or promote it on another page besides your home page. With our second layer we’re going to focus on our CATEGORY PAGES to the home page by including a CONTEXTUAL LINK within the page that directs a viewer or web crawler back to the home page. Third layer: 

The third layer of the link pyramid is really what ties it all together. In order for the link pyramid to be an effective back linking method you MUST have very specific and relevant keywords that link back to your home page. Refer to the initial pyramid in second slide to see that we’re ALWAYS going to link the article page (Third Layer) back to the home page and the category page.
