My Hero By: Tyler Landfried Do you have a hero? I do. It is Andrew Jones. He is a wrestler for Gannon University. He’s a really great wrestler. That is one reason why he is my hero. For me, he is a role model, a good friend, and a good sport. He is a role model for me because he always does things well, and I want to follow his examples. He is a good student, and he gets good grades. He is involved in a lot of school activities, like student council. Also, he was class vice president in 11 th and 12 th grade. He is also involved in school sports like cross country and wrestling. I hope I can accomplish some of the goals he set. Andrew is one of my very good friends. He is like a brother. He’s a good friend to people he doesn’t know or barely knows. As a matter of fact, he used to be my babysitter. I’ve known him for a real long time. When he wrestles, he always comes and sits by my dad and me when he’s done. We always have a great time. When he was in high school, he’d come and cheer for me at my wrestling tournaments. He will always be my favorite friend in the whole wide world. Andrew is a good sport. He has one of the best attitudes in any sport. He always tries his hardest. He is a good sport if he wins. I have never really seen him lose, but I imagine he handles it very well. I always hear everyone telling each other how good of a sport he is no matter if he wins or even loses. If you have ever seen how good of a sport he is, you would be absolutely shocked. Everyone respects him. I hope you get to see the great sport of Andrew Jones someday in your life. It is some sight to see. In conclusion, Andrew Jones is someone I look up to and respect. I hope you are as lucky as I am and that you get to meet him someday. I hope to be as great of a person as he is when I’m growing up. He has taught me a lot about being a good person. Who knows, maybe if I follow Andrew’s example, someone will write a story about me someday.

MY HERO By: Michael Free Do you have a hero? Well I do. My hero is my dad. In the next few paragraphs I will explain why my dad is my hero. So stick around to find out why my dad is my hero. A few reasons are that he's nice and he supports me. Another reason is that he's a friend. He's there when I need to ask him about something, or when I have trouble with homework. That was a few of the reasons why my dad is my hero. I'm happy that I am talking about my hero because he means a lot to me-same with my mom-so I'm happy. Anyway back to the subject. There are tons of reasons why my dad is my hero. My dad is at work most of the time. He drives one hour and 15 minutes each way, works 12-hour shifts, four days a week, and also works overtime. When he isn't at work, he does work around the house. The kind of work he does around the house is: dishes, mowing grass, laundry, cooking, dusting, mopping, and other cleaning chores. He drives my sister and me where we need to go. I also have a few more things to tell you. Once my dad got me a really cool skateboard, and I really liked it. He's done a lot of things for me that I can't write down, but here are a few. Once he bought me a video game. Another thing is when he got me a bike for Christmas. Then with that bike I got a helmet. He also protects my sister and me from harm. There are a lot of things that he does for us, like make our beds, vacuum, feed pets, and a lot of other stuff like that. Once, my dad and I were on a nature trail and we saw tons of birds, and other wonderful animals and I loved it. A few more reasons that he's a great dad to have are we rent movies and watch them together. We go to family bingo, and do fun things together as a family. In conclusion, the reason why I picked my dad as my hero is no matter what he is always there for me. My dad may not be a movie star, president, stunt double, millionaire, astronaut, talk show host, or a policeman. But, he is a very important person to me.

My Heroine By: Sean McErlane Do you have a heroine? I don’t mean someone like Superman or Batman, but someone like your friend or a family member. Well, my heroine is Jodi McErlane, a terrific teacher, and my magnificent mom all at the same time. She is a wonderful person and she is incredibly nice. If you want to learn more about my heroine, then read on. My heroine/mom is a teacher. Because she is a teacher, she understands the importance of education. She also knows the importance of a nutritiously packed lunch. She knows how to help me with hard homework. I have a teacher at school and at home. My mom teaches at Hempfield Elementary. She teaches kindergarteners and first graders. This makes me proud, because the kids she teaches could grow up to make the world a better place. She’s making a difference, not only in my life, but in other people’s lives as well. It always makes me smile with how many peoples lives she changed. Another reason my mom is my heroine is because she keeps me safe. From the time I was a tiny baby, she kept me safe from harm. One time she even saved my dear life. I was playing football in my front yard with my friend and the ball went on the street. When I went to get the ball, there was an oncoming car that I did not notice. At that split second, my mom rushed out onto the street and stopped the car. The third reason my mom is my heroine is because she can help me make the choices that I have to make in my life that are hard for any other child like myself. For instance, she tells me to stay away from drugs, tobacco, and alcohol. She encourages me to keep my grades up, so I can acquire a first-class education. She also teaches me to be polite, kind, caring and respectful to others. These qualities allow me to maintain a respectable reputation and not lose my friends because I smoke or do drugs. In conclusion, Jodi McErlane, my mom, and a teacher at Hempfield Elementary is a huge heroine in my eyes. She is my teacher, she keeps me safe, and she helps me make responsible and skillful choices. I think my mom is the most magnificent heroine in the whole wide world.

My Hero By: Rodney Stroud Do you have a hero, or have you ever had a hero? Well guess what, I have one right now! Let me tell you about my hero. I met him two years ago, when my mom was playing the dice game they made-up. The game is called Greedy. But, back to my hero. He is the coolest person I know of. His name is David Ives, Dave for short. His dad is my mom’s boyfriend. Her boyfriend’s name is Gary Ives. Dave also has a brother that is thirteen years old. His name is Charles Ives, Chuckie for short. He can be really annoying just like Aidan. But, back to Dave, again. Again, he is really cool. He is good at hunting. He has a .22, a 410, and a compound bow. I think you’d pull 55 pounds if you shot it. He is almost seventeen years old. He already has his driver’s license. He is good at driving/riding dirt bikes, four-wheelers/ATV’s, and trucks. He also has a ’65 Ford F-150. It’s his redneck machine. What I mean by that is, it’s sort of beat-up. Well it looks like it got shot one too many times, with a really big gun! You know that sort of thing. It is really fun when he takes me on rides in his truck and on the four-wheelers. When he took me on a ride on my mom’s ’99 Honda Fourtrax 300ex, it was really fun. We went mud bogging on it. He also takes me on fun rides on his ’94 Yamaha Blaster. We flew around a corner and almost rolled it. That was really fun! He taught me how to ride a four-wheeler and he told me when to shift. He taught me how to shoot my new .22. He also takes me off-roading in the Ford, his redneck machine. Right now he is even teaching me how to hunt, which is really cool. But, the secret is, to be as cautious as possible and to be as quiet as possible, at the same time. He somewhat keeps me safe. Like, the time when we were roaming around on our bikes around Detroit. We were minding our own business and then we were going down our favorite three hills on our bikes. And then on the last hill, there was a huge group of people, (from ten years old to twenty-three years old). And then we were going down the last hill and Dave almost hit the people in the middle of the road. Well, then they started chasing us down. Dave told Chuckie and I to go ahead of him so if anyone got hurt it would be him. Another reason why he is my hero is not because he did something great for me or bought me something. Well, actually he bought me my gun case. But, it’s because he treats me like a brother. Well, he almost is my brother, sort of. I wish my mother and Gary got married. But I couldn’t see that happening. Well, I could but Mom couldn’t really see that like I could. If that didn’t happen, I would still wish he were my brother. It’s all up to Mom and Gary, I guess. But, I have to wait, for now at least .

My Hero By Jeremy Dalton Heath Is there any individual that you consider a hero? I have a hero. There are a whole lot of citizens who can be a hero in this world. Joseph Aaron Heath, my father, is my hero. There are a whole lot of reasons why he is my hero. This is a hard choice but I am going to narrow it down to three reasons. They are the most fundamental reasons in the whole assortment of my view. Read on to discover what they are. My father supports me as well as my mother in everything we do. Even if we mess up on something he will still say it is outstanding. He, in addition helps us with what we messed up on. For example the 1 st time I bungled on getting the Internet to operate he helped me out. He also supports me with my music, guitar and tuba by listening to all of my practices. He is also supportive of all of my school functions. He tries to accompany me to all events, and he even chaperoned a school trip to the John Glen Research Center. He helps bring out the creativity in my writing, by making me think out my thoughts before putting them down on paper. A further thing I am fond of regarding my father is his determination. When he is looking for a profession he never gives up. He is also very determined with his education. He has numerous talents, and has quite a few degrees. He also believes in my education. He helps me with my homework My father is also my best friend. He will play games with me, but will also be my parent whenever necessary. He plays on my game systems even though he’s not very good at using the controllers just to spend time with me. He’s taught me how to play various card games, like rummy, and UNO. We’ve played all sorts of board games and he’s even taught me to play chess, I beat him a couple of times too. My father always talks to me like I’m an adult and tells me that if I ever need to know about anything all I have to do is ask. Joseph Aaron Heath, my father, my hero, these are but a few things that make him a hero to me. The main reason he’s my hero is that he’s my dad and he’s always here for me.

My Hero By: Timothy Fraser Almost every country has its heroes and legends, from Hercules and Odysseus to Spiderman and Superman. And while these heroes are known for having incredible adventures and saving lives, a hero doesn’t have to have saved someone’s life. The title of hero only means you look up to someone or that they are special in your eyes. In my case, my hero is my brother, Jonathan Fraser. Jon has helped me with a lot of different projects, such as last year’s Science Fair. Last year, when I chose my topic, I had no idea what I was doing. Then Jon explained how all the electrons and protons work, and brought me to a higher level of understanding. He also came into class this fall during the class election to sing a song for my friends to convince them to vote for me. If he hadn’t helped me with that, I never would have won the election. So, all in all, Jon has helped me to understand many things, but that is only one of my many reasons for choosing Jon as my hero. Plus, unlike many brothers, we have lots of fun together. Sometimes we will just sit in his room and play video games. A year ago, we constructed wooden swords, which we then played with in our backyard for the rest of the summer. We also have ridden our bicycles around the town for hours. So, as you can see, Jon and I have lots of fun together in many different ways. Jonathan has a lot of good qualities that make me respect him. One is his great intelligence that makes him an exceptional student. Another is his kindness to his friends. Finally, the quality that makes him get up and help a person when they are in trouble is the one I think is the best of all of his wonderful different qualities. These are only three of the great qualities he has that make me respect him so much as to call him my hero. Those are the three main reasons why Jon is my hero. How he has helped me, the activities he’s done with me, and the great qualities he has make up the three reasons for being my hero. In the end, Jonathan is the man who has done the most for me, so for all of the reasons I’ve stated, he is my hero.

PowerPoint Presentation:

My Hero By: Corey Douglas Do you have a hero or heroine? Heroes and heroines are someone we think highly of, admire, respect, and look up to. They are role models and give us something to aim for. Many people have heroes and hope they can be like them someday. Also heroes are someone we can trust. In this essay I will tell who my hero is and why he is my hero. I am writing about my Father. One of the reasons he is my hero is he always wants my brother and me to be doing something and he never wants us to be bored. For example, he will take us fishing or play sports with us. He always makes sure that we have something special planned. So you now know one reason my father is my hero. My second reason my father is my hero is he is always there for me. He is my basketball coach and he makes sure I do well when I have a practice or game. He is the President of Little League and helps at practice. He never misses a game. Also when I am sad or not feeling well he tries to make me feel better. He is always proud of me despite how I do. My third reason is he works hard. He works hard every day so we can go places and do things. One of the things we do is my father, my brother, and I go on fishing trips. Sometimes we go to New York to fish for Steelhead; sometimes we go to Lake Erie to fish for perch and walleye. Sometimes we just stay around here and just fish for fun. This year he is taking us to Canada to fish for Northern Pike. One time he took me bay fishing in Florida. That was exceedingly fun. I appreciate this, because fishing is one of my favorite things to do and he takes off work and spends his day with me. Most of the time he does not even fish, he just helps us. When we were little he would take us swimming for hours. He would take us to the pool or to the beach, whatever we wanted. He always helped us build castles in the sand. In conclusion to my essay I would like to say my life is good and my father makes it better.

My Heroine By: Paige Leary Do you have a hero or heroine? Well I sure do. I don’t mean a super hero like Superman or Batman. I mean like a close friend or family member. Well I have a heroine. It is my mom. Why is my mom my heroine? Read on to find out! My first reason why my mom is my heroine is that I can always trust her. She will tell me anything I want to know. Trust is what you need to have in a hero or heroine. My mom can also trust me! I am so glad that she can. My second reason is that she is a role model and a magnificent mother. She taught me right from wrong and all the things I needed to before I went to school. She still is teaching me every day! My third reason is that she will always forgive me. If I do something wrong she will forgive me. I also will always forgive her! Forgiving is a loving and comforting sign. That is another thing that you need to have in a heroine. My fourth reason is that she keeps me safe. She will never let anything happen to me. I always feel safe when I am around her. Like one time when I was skiing I fell really hard. All of my friends did not see me fall, but my mom saw me crash and secured me. She was a real heroine that day. My fifth reason is that she is very patient. She will wait and wait for me if I am doing something important. Patience is something great in a heroine. Another reason why is because she is so much fun! She will take me shopping or any place I want to go. Fun is my mom’s middle name. She also always makes me laugh! She has a really funny and cute belly laugh. She is an awesome mom! My final reason is that she loves me! She makes my life so much easier and makes it be filled with so much love! She has a loving caring heart and a very safe and secure home. She has made not just my life great but everyone around her lives filled with fun and love! I hoped you enjoyed my story about my extraordinary heroine. I love that my mom is my super heroine. I really do hope that your hero or heroine is as loveable and joyful as mine!

MY HEROINE By: Onnalee Kirsch My mom is my heroine. Why I say this is because she is the one who takes care of me when I’m sick and the one who takes me to the mall and to my friends house. Do you have a heroine? Well I do and I will tell you a lot more about my heroine mom. My mom is my heroine for a lot of reasons and I’m going to tell you a lot more reasons why she is my heroine. My mom is special to me, because she is my mom for one thing and she takes care of me, and does the housework at the same time. I love my mom. My mom takes me to the mall and that’s very brave of her, because I am very picky with my clothes and shoes. I love my mom very much, because one day she made breakfast for me and she was sick. She was worried I would be hungry. It was very early in the morning. After I had my breakfast, she made me my lunch for school. I told her it would be okay if I ate the school lunch, but she insisted on making my lunch. Then I went to school and I forgot my lunch. I could have got a regular school lunch, and need I remind you that my mom was very sick, but she went out in the cold and gave me my lunch. I have a lot of memories about my mom doing something for me. I will tell you one more memory that I have about my mom doing something for me and her being my heroine. It all started out on a Friday morning. I got up and my mom said we were going to the mall. I said “Do you really want to take me to the mall?” and she said, “Yes, you need to get your hair cut at Cross Cutters.” I said, “Are we buying any clothes?” and she said, “If you don’t make me stressed out before we even get to the mall.” After I got my hair cut we went to the clothes and I was stressing her out already because I was picky about my clothes. We spent an hour at the clothes section and finally I got one shirt. Then she said, “It’s time to go.” That was brave of her not to just say, “Let’s go!” Instead, she waited until I got at least one thing and then she said, “Let’s go.” That’s another reason she’s my heroine. My mom is very special to me. Here is another example of why she is my heroine. She is so busy, and she always makes time for me. Well, I guess all moms have to make time for their children, but my mom is always very busy. I always say, “It’s ok. Get what you need done,” but she always says, it’s ok she can spend time with me and she always does. My mom is so good at so many things. She is a great mom. That’s one thing she is good at. Another good thing she is good at is art. She is also very athletic for how old she is. Another thing she is good at is sewing. She is really good at almost everything. I’m almost done, so stay awake. It’s not only the stuff I just told you about my mom. She also supports me for sports I want to try. She supports me for different things I need to do for school and just about anything I want to do. That’s why I chose my one and only mom to be my heroine.

PowerPoint Presentation:

My Heroine By: Olivia Paxson Do you have a hero or heroine? I do and her name is Kirsten Thomas. If you read on you’ll find out why I think she’s my heroine and always will. To start off, why my heroine is Kirsten is because she is always there for me. If I need a good shoulder to cry on she’s there. My life is kind of confusing and she knows what I go through and what I feel like if something happens. If I am not having a good day she comforts me or takes me shopping or something. Another reason she is my heroine is because she gives me the love and support I need. If I feel like I want to try something new she supports me all the way and helps me achieve what I want to try and helps me. When I tried to play basketball, she supported me and helped me all the way and now I am on the top team for Slippery Rock and she still shows me stuff and cheers me on. She always has supported me and she thinks when someone tries something new they need someone to support them. She is the person to do just that. The third reason is because she makes life worth living for. She makes you want to live forever. She always does fun stuff for any occasion. She will do anything and everything to make you feel like life is worth living for. I used to hate life for many reasons and she helped me and makes life fun for me. Another reason she is my heroine is because I can trust her with anything. Whatever it is she will keep it a secret. Trust is the number one thing a heroine needs along with friendship and loyalty. I can tell her anything and she will not tell a single soul!! She is so trustworthy and it is great because I can trust her and always will be able to as long as I live. As you can see Kirsten is a great person to be a heroine for anyone and that is why I think of her as my heroine and always will. She cares, supports me and is a loyal, caring and trustworthy heroine and those are the key things a heroine needs. She has those traits and that is why she is my heroine!!

PowerPoint Presentation:

MY HERO By: Nico Zahniser Have you ever had a hero? Well I have so I am going to tell you about it. My hero is my Dad. One reason is that he helps me with anything I need help with. Like sports, he makes me do the best I can do. He taught me how to pitch, hit, and throw. He tells me how to shoot a basketball and foul shot. He corrects me sometimes when I do not do it right. That makes me mad sometimes, but that is why I love him. He pushes me to the limit. Another reason he is my hero is because he takes very good care of me. You see my dad adopted me. When we went to court for me to get adopted, I was very scared. They asked me words I had never heard before. My grandma came. She gave me pencils that said Nico Zahniser, because that was my new name. I was so excited that I was adopted. I almost cried an ocean I was so happy. Here is another reason he is my hero. When I was born, my mom and I were alone, but my dad helped us. He did everything with me. He was the best dad I could ever have. Sometimes I got yelled at but that’s okay. That way I didn’t get spoiled. I think that is an excellent reason that he is a superior parent. My dad is a hard worker and a good role model for me. He installs insulation in Pittsburgh, Cranberry, and once he traveled all the way to INDIANA. He once worked on the Peterson Event Center in Pittsburgh. He had to travel to Pittsburgh every day at 4:30 in the morning. His hard work provides me with clothing, food, and shelter. I appreciate him for that. He is my team’s coach. We are not very good, but he still believes in us. He is a very good coach, but sometimes he makes us do Trojans sprints. He makes us sit on our knees and hold one finger and flick the ball with the other. It hurts your neck and finger. Sometimes we do thirty shots from each side and the middle. It is hard, but it pays off. If my dad didn’t care about me the way he does, I don’t know where I would be. I would probably not be as smart as I am, not as good of an athlete, or as good as a person. So in conclusion, I want to thank him for being my dad.

PowerPoint Presentation:

My Hero By: Mike Hogenmiller Do you want to know who my hero is? My hero is my grandma. I am one of her grandchildren. My name is Michael. In this story I will be telling you about my grandma. If you want to know more keep reading. I will tell you all the reasons why she is my hero. One reason my grandma is my hero is, because of the fantastic person she is. My grandma is an independent person. One reason she is independent is she lives on her own. My grandma does not work any more, but she still can mange life. She has fourteen grandchildren, not counting me. My grandma does not have a car. We have to walk everywhere. So that means that we get to spend a lot of time with her. She lets me stay at her house on the weekends. I like to help her clean her house. She helps me with my homework during the week. Another reason my grandma is my hero is because she is very talented. Some of her many talents include gardening, sewing, and cooking. She lets me help her garden. We plant every kind of plant in the garden you can imagine. Her sewing is fantastic. She can make pillows, quilts and bedspreads. Once she made me a quilt. The colors are hard to explain because they are so extraordinary. They are a metallic red, a robin’s egg blue and a creamy white. As far as cooking goes, she can fry up an egg in two minutes. She’s fast. She knows how to cook. As you can see, she has many talents. My last reason that my grandma is my hero is because she is cheerful. My grandma has a lot of joyfulness in her! The COOLEST thing she does is telling jokes. She makes up jokes that do not make sense, but I like them anyway. We like to play games together, like Monopoly and other fun games. Sometimes we draw funny pictures together or we play tic-tac-toe. Whatever we do together, she is always super fun. In conclusion, my grandma inspires me, because she is the nicest person in the whole universe. She is a fantastic, independent, talented and cheerful human being. I feel lucky about all the time my grandma and I spend together. None of it is wasted. I would not change a single thing about her.

My Heroine! By: Leanna Gosser Do you have a hero or heroine? I know I do! My heroine is my mom. My mom is one of the greatest people I know. Moms always seem to be a great hero, so I’m going to tell you why my mom is one too. One reason my mom is my heroine is because she’s always there for me. For instance, when I tried out for the play she wished me good luck and put a note in my lunchbox wishing me even more good luck and telling me I would do fine. Even when I made a small part she was still proud of me! Another example of her being there for me is she can sense when I’m really upset, and when I am she always finds a way to make me feel 500% better. I know no matter what, my mom will always have my back and everything will be all right. Another reason my mom is my heroine is because she helps out in the community to make a difference in my life. She used to help out with my Girl Scout troop and my Sunday school class. My mom is currently on PTO for my school and my sister’s school. My mom bakes food for bake sales, helps out with fundraisers, and does arts and crafts for tons of different things my sister, brother, and I are in. My mom is so great to me because she goes out of her way and does all of this for me. My last reason my mom is my heroine is because she is so involved in my life! She helps me with homework, even if it’s 10:30 at night. She also taught me some cheers when I was in cheerleading. My mom also loves to know what’s going on with my life, whether it’s school, friends, sports, and clothes…anything! My mom does tons of stuff for me too. She does my laundry, cooks dinner, takes care of me when I’m sick, and all the other regular mom stuff-but she does much more! She takes my siblings and I places we need to go, she let’s me have friends over, gives me money to go to dances, skating, the pool, and a million and one other places. My mom is so awesome and understanding. She’s one of my best friends. So as you can you see my mom is a perfect heroine. She is helpful and active in the community. She is also proud and protective of me. She is also kind, loving, and caring. She is prepared for everything. She also takes care of my sister, brother, and I. The best part about her is she’s my mom and I love her so much! That’s why my mom is my heroine. THE END

PowerPoint Presentation:

My Heroine By: Kendall Ohr Do you have a hero or a heroine? Well I do! My heroine is my mom! She is the most remarkable mom in the world. In the next few paragraphs I will tell you a few reasons why my mom is my heroine. The first reason why my mom is my heroine is because whenever I am sick, my mom is always there for me. She will take her day off just to take care of me when I am ill. Even if she wants to stay at work, she will come home for me! For example, about a month ago, I was sick and my mom came home from work to be with me. The second reason why I choose my mom as my heroine is because my mom is good at teaching a lot of things. She taught me how to cook different foods like, macaroni, spaghetti and lots more. I love to make them with her and help her cook our meals! I always help my mom cook, and it helps her out, because she has lots of other things to do at the same time. The third reason why I chose my mom as my heroine is because my mom always takes me on a summer vacation. We go to Sandbridge, Virginia and Bayhead, New Jersey and lots more places. She takes us to the beach everyday when we go to those places! She also takes us to the Lynhaven Mall to buy us clothes for school. We always have fun! The fourth reason why my mom is my heroine is because she is good at helping when my siblings and I fight. She never takes anyone’s side and helps to solve what we are fighting about. She is very fair with solving our problems. She is also fair with punishments if we do something wrong. She has never grounded my sisters or me. She has punishments for my sisters and me, but they aren’t dreadful punishments. The fifth reason why she is my heroine is because she is an Elementary teacher. She is a fifth grade teacher at East Elementary School. She teaches all kinds of subjects. A few of them are reading, math, science, social studies and a few other subjects. She loves teaching! This is her fourth year she has been teaching and she is doing an excellent job! The sixth reason why my mom is my heroine is because she loves to spend time with our family. She always makes sure that everyone is ok. If someone needs something, she will get it for them. My family and I love her for what she does for us. My mom is the best mom she can be! She is so nice and important to me! That is the way I like her! My mom is my heroine and I love her so much!

PowerPoint Presentation:

My Hero By: Ashley Adams I’m sure everyone has a hero or heroine! Some people may not but I know I do! Do you have a hero or heroine? Well I do! My special heroine is my mom! In the next few paragraphs I am going to explain why my mom is needed, hardworking, and fantastic and I will tell you how I see my mom in my eyes and how she is my special and all time heroine! My first reason my mom is my special heroine is because she is needed. She helps with a lot of things like my homework and cleaning the house. She does a lot of work and I would never be able to do a.l the stuff she does! That is the first reason why my mom is my special heroine! The second reason my mom is my heroine is because she is fantastic. Some people have a really bad life, but I do not have to worry about that at all. My mom loves me a lot and she would never be very mean to me at all. My mom would never do anything mean or cruel to me at all so that is the second reason why my mom is my heroine! The third reason my mom is my special heroine is because she is hard working! My mom is hard working because she will never give up on anything she does. Let’s say I had homework and did not understand it she would sit there for hours explaining it to me until I completely understood. That is the third reason why my mom is my heroine! The fourth reason my mom is my heroine is because she is someone I can talk to about something. When I feel really bad or upset I know I can count on my mom to make me feel a lot better. I don’t know how my mom can make me feel better, but she always does somehow! All the things I told you about my mom is why she is my heroine. She is a phenomenal mom and I would not be able to do all of the things she can do! My mom means the world to me. She has done a lot of things for me in my life and I thank her so much for that! Now that is why my mom is my heroine!

MY HEROINE By: Gloria Gillenwater Do you have a hero or a heroine? I do! It is someone I will tell you about in the next few paragraphs. I’ll tell you the reason I picked her to be my heroine. I will tell you our story. Now I am going to tell you who my heroine is. My heroine is my mother. She has always been there when I needed her there for me. She watches out for me so much so I don’t get hurt. I am a diabetic, which means I take insulin. It does not hurt, unless you are not used to needles or if you are sick. That is the only time it will hurt you. It does not hurt me at all. I’m used to it. My mom always makes sure I get my shot. She is always there to cook me a special meal, because I can’t eat food with a lot of sugar or carbohydrates in them. My mom is very nice. She thinks that she should let me go to a Four-H show to walk a calf named Pretzel. She has never let me out of her sight, even though she wants to. But, then again she does not want me to leave her side. She gets too afraid to let me go. This is another reason she is my heroine. Because of her my sugar levels have been almost under control. Sometimes, though, it bounces all over the place, because I have most likely been eating the wrong kind of food. It’s also hard because it is winter and I don’t run around the house or go outside as much as I do in the summer. My mom always helps me get my sugar levels even. My mom is my heroine because she is always there to guard me. She is also my heroine because she loves me know matter what. She loves me for who I am. She takes care of me so much that I care for her so much. She even knows when I am sick. She is so nice she does a lot for me. She also does a lot of stuff for me when she is sick, even when she is really sick. She is my favorite person in the whole world. I love my mom so much. She does not know that I love her so much, she does not know this yet because I don’t really show it. Now I’m telling everyone that my MOM IS MY HEROINE! She is my #1 hero!

My Heroine By: Emily Paxson Do you have a hero or heroine? I know I sure do! Mine is my wonderful mom. My mom is my special heroine because she is always there for me when I need her. She is kind, considerate and a lot of fun. She is there for me and encourages me to do things. She is involved in so many community projects that help me and other children. These reasons and so many more are reasons why my mom is my heroine. To find out more on why my mom is so special, read on. My first reason why my mom is my special heroine is because she is there for me when I need her. She helps me when I am down and I can talk to her about anything. She has always been there for me with everything that is going on in my life. She helps me solve my problems by talking through them with me and coming up with new ideas and solutions. My mom also is there when I need help with my schoolwork such as homework and studying for tests. My second reason on why my mom is my special heroine is because she believes in me and thinks that if I put my mind to something I can do it. You see, I was born with only three fingers on each of my hands. To my mom I was always perfect and she always got upset when people counted babies fingers and toes and said they were perfect. She said I was perfect and I could do anything I want if I put my mind to it. She was right, I am a great basketball player and pianist and there is really nothing I cannot do. My mom always believes in me and makes me feel confident about myself in all aspects of my life. My mom encourages me in all my endeavors whether it school or sports. She is my number one supporter and has always been there for me and I know she always will. My third reason why my mom is my heroine is because she is so involved in the community. She is on many different community boards and involved in many different projects. Some of them include the Greenville Area Leisure Services Board, Greenville Softball Association, President of the school’s PTO and President of the Greenville Area Soccer Association. I know she does many of these things because they benefit my brother, my sister and me. I love my mom for doing all these things because I know it makes our community a better place to raise children. I look up to my mom for all the great things she does. My mom is my role model and I want to be just like her when I grow up. My mom is the best and I really adore what she does for me and everyone else. I love my mom with all my heart. My mom is the most extraordinary person in my life and I wouldn’t change a thing about her. My mom is worth everything to me. The people that really know her know what I am talking about. To meet my mom is a special experience. For me, there is no one else I could have picked as my heroine because to me, my mom is my world!

Hero By: Dylon Courtney I suppose my town has a lot of heroes/heroines. However, I have chosen one to tell you about. In order to do that we have to go back six years. We have to go way back to kindergarten. So be prepared for an awesome story. Mr. Stringert, my hero, was my kindergarten through first Grade teacher. He is also a local DJ in Harts Town. He has a wife and two daughters. He enjoys spending time with both his kids and his students. The thing that makes Mr. Stringert a hero is the fact that he takes all of his free time to teach children. Another thing that makes him a hero is that he always came into school whether he was sick or not. He never left us with a substitute if it was at all possible. One thing that makes him a hero in my eyes is that he is smart. Another thing that makes him a hero in my eyes is that he educates kids and is really good with them. Another thing that makes him a hero in my eyes is that he is really athletic. Another thing that makes him a hero in my eyes is that it is fun to be with him. Mr. Stringert is a very intelligent schoolteacher. Mr. Stringert has a bachelor’s degree in teaching. Mr. Stringert, a kindergarten through first grade teacher, is very good with children. When I was in his class he won the best teacher award. He makes learning so much fun. For example, unlike other teacher sitting us down and reading a book to us he would make up these awesome stories that had all of our names in them. Mr. Stringert, my hero, is very athletic. For example, during recess he would almost always play whatever the kids were playing. In the classroom it was the same way. He would do pretty much what we were doing. Mr. Stringert is so much fun to be with. He makes learning so much fun. He makes things that would usually be like a chore into things that we could enjoy doing. For example, instead of cleaning up the room he put on the Barney clean up song. As I hope you can tell it was a thrilling kindergarten and first grade for everyone that was in his class that year. I am positive that everyone who knows Mr. Stringert would agree very strongly with these paragraphs.

My Hero By: Derek Runge What do you call the best teacher you’ve had? I call him a hero. Mr. Ross, my 3 rd grade teacher, is the best teacher I’ve had so far. He is funny, competitive, remembers most everything, and isn’t bad for a friend. If you think all teachers are either grouches, or boring I’ll tell you he’s one exception. Let me show you why he is such a good teacher. One reason Mr. Ross, my 3 rd grade teacher, is my hero is because he is funny. For example, when I was in his class he made jokes saying the things we were doing were bad. He also made jokes about teams or players he didn’t like, for example Raiders rule. Raiders are going to the Super bowl and Steelers drool. If he got really mad at someone he would talk about wiping the board with that person! Mr. Ross is my hero also, because he is very competitive. Once he had us march though the school mumbling Raiders rule or Raiders are going to the Super bowl. If someone walked in with a Steelers shirt on, he would erase the board with him or her! He was the only teacher in the school that liked the Raiders, but he didn’t stop rooting for them. Another of these few reasons Mr. Ross is my hero is because he remembers most everything. When he promised anything to us he did it. When he promised extra recess (he did that rarely) we got it. The only exception was when he said (didn’t promise) that we would learn our multiplication up to 10 by the end of the year. He said every time we brought in the Raiders score we would get points, and we did. (He never forgot the score either.) One large reason Mr. Ross is my hero is because even though he is an adult he knows the dos, and don’ts. Some teachers, moms, dads, and other adults are either strict or say cool too much. He knows how to appeal to our tastes as well. At the beginning of the year he said if we got his question right we would have recess all day (no one got it right!) At the end of the day when the busses pulled in (only a few people got to see it) he got in his truck, drove over the about 7in. curb into some grass, and dropped back down onto the road. As you can see Mr. Ross is a very good teacher and a good choice for a hero. Mr. Ross the funny, competitive, remembering, and friendly teacher is my hero. I hope you have a good hero too. I’m glad Mr. Ross is my hero.

MY HEROINE By: Alaina Batt Do you have a heroine, a woman you look up to, and admire. I know I do! I admire my teacher, Mrs. Abernethy. I have many good reasons why she is my heroine. Read on to hear about why I admire my teacher so very greatly. I admire Mrs. Abernethy so much because she is so very friendly. She does many fun activities, like power points and fun games, in class that help me in all of my work. She makes everyone feel just wonderful about themselves. She is so relaxed, calm, and peaceful. I look up to her as an outstanding role model for me. I am sure if you knew her you would accept her as your role model too. She is very confident and capable of I would say just about anything I can imagine. She is just so amazing. I feel if I have any problems I can go to her and ask for help and knowing her, if there is anyway she could help she will. She makes me feel wonderful inside. She helps me a lot with making me feel prepared in all of my schoolwork, by giving my class a goal sheet, which is a sheet with all of our assignments for the whole week so I can get caught up on all my work. Mrs. Abernethy is very talented. She is greatly appreciated by my entire family, because of how she teaches my class. Mrs. Abernethy inspires my family and me very much. I think that everyone needs a wonderful teacher like Mrs. Abernethy! I am very satisfied with her. I wake up in the cold mornings and want to go to school because of this phenomenal lady who helps me throughout my school day. I never have to worry about being uninformed or overwhelmed about anything because I have Mrs. Abernethy. She should be very proud of how she makes my family and I feel. My parents always say that they wish I could have her for the rest of my life. It is amazing what she does for me! This is just about the end of my story. I hope you enjoyed learning how great my teacher really is. I think Mrs. Abernethy is worth over one hundred shining bright diamonds. She really is a great person! When I grow up I wish to be just like my teacher, Mrs. Abernethy. I feel very lucky to have her as my fifth grade teacher! She is definitely my favorite teacher I have ever had so far in all of my school years! If you had her for a teacher I am sure that you would feel the same way that I do about her. Thank you for reading my story!

My Heroine By: Brianna Igersheim Do you want to know who my heroine is? Well read on and find out. My heroine is my mom. She is loving, caring, comforting, and a superior role model. These are the reasons that she is my heroine. Read on and find out how loving she is. My mom is as loving as she can be. She is always keeping her promises. She is always being the best parent she can be. She is a caring heroine, and she is my mom. My mom has a number of other things to do and still has time to be an extremely loving mother. The second reason that she is my hero is because she is a caring woman. She takes care of me when I am sick. When I get home from school she has dinner ready. After that when I am doing homework she is helping me with it. When I require help for a project she is on the run to get the stuff I need. My mom is the most caring person in the whole universe. If you think that’s all that she is, loving and caring, you’re wrong. My mom is not only loving and caring, she is comforting. What I mean by that is my mom is always there for me when I need her. When I feel left out or alone she is there for me. When I need to have a conversation she will listen to me very closely. My mom is always comforting me by simply asking what happened in school today. I always thought my mom was just supposed to be my mom, but she isn’t. She’s my heroine too. My mom takes a very important role in my life. She does this by being an extremely good role model. She teaches me what to do when someone is being a bully. Also she is a role model because she doesn’t do bad things to her body. Keep in mind, she is always telling me that I should never do drugs, and I never will. My heroine will probably never change because of her being a good role model. My heroine has always been a good role model and nothing will change that. I feel that a hero doesn’t have to be some sports player or singer. It can be anyone. As you can see, I have a heroine to look up to all the time at home. Your hero doesn’t have to be a relative but someone who has been a good person in your life or someone who inspires you. I also feel that a hero is someone colorful in your eyes not someone else’s. As you can see, my heroine isn’t someone like a movie star but someone that I see every day, my mom.

Hero By: Cam Cianci My hero is my dad because when I do not know something he will teach me it. He has many good qualities. He is a good father. In school if I need help I know that my dad will always be there for me. My dad wants me to do my best in school. When I do well in school I get rewarded from my dad and mom. My dad really works hard at work so he can support us. My dad owns his own restaurant. It is called Cianci’s Restaurant. He has a partner and his name is Mark Cianci. My dad and Mark own the Cianci Motel too. My dad is great because if I want to go some place he can get ready in a hurry. If we were going to a Thiel football game and he slept in he could still get ready in a hurry so that we wouldn't be late for the game. I am the ball boy for Thiel and my dad wouldn't want to make me late. My dad is really fast because if he sleeps in before work and forgets to wake up early enough he can get ready fast. If we are running late for wrestling practice he can get ready fast. My dad never forgets my birthday or my sister’s birthday. He has never forgot my grandma’s birthday. We took her to Pittsburgh to eat dinner for her birthday. My dad has never forgot my mom’s birthday. My dad has never forgot a holiday. Since my grandpa passed away, my dad has done a lot of stuff for my grandma. He gets her groceries and takes her to hair appointments. My dad helps her at her house too. He also takes her to all of her doctor’s appointments. I love sports and my dad does a lot of things for me and my sports activities. For wrestling he takes me to Rob Waller’s All- American Wrestling Club. It is in Pittsburgh and it is the best club around. My dad takes me there on Sundays and Tuesdays. One of my most favorite things that my dad and I did for wrestling was when we went to Las Vegas to wrestle. It was so much fun. The last thing that I would like to say about my dad is that I don't know what I would do without him. I would like to be just like him when I get older. That is why my dad is my hero.

My Heroine/Hero By: Alexis Barry Guess who my heroine/hero is. Mrs. Abernethy? Superwoman? Hilary Duff? Alex Rodriguez? If you guessed anyone of them you are wrong I picked my mom. I am going to write about how she cares, is nice, is strict, and how she is my role model, and runs the family. Let’s start out with how she is nice and how she cares. When I have the flu, tummy ache, or a runny nose she goes out to get me Tylenol. When I want to pick up a friend or go to a dance she is always nice enough to take me. When I have missed the bus, she cares so much to pick me up from school. Next I am going to write about how she can be strict. When I am fooling around in softball, she yells at me to pay attention. Another time I hurt my sister, and I got grounded. One day I was walking up the street in the dark alone and when she found me I got scolded. That is how she is strict. Now I am going to write about how she is my role model. We both love to clean because we like things neat. We also like to wear the same style so sometimes we trade clothes. We both like the computer; I like pet finder and she likes HGTV.com. She also keeps her promises and says what she means. We both like to stay in shape by walking while looking for houses. Finally, I am going to write about how she runs the family. She is the person that keeps me on track for doing homework. She also keeps the family together by organizing things and by cleaning. She also buys us things that we need so our house is not a mess. For example: when I had a messy room she told me to clean it up because she didn’t want to do more cleaning. She always watches the weather to make sure we wear the right clothes. To make sure our family vacation goes right, she makes a schedule so we know what to wear and take. Right now she is running the family by picking the right house to buy. Your hero doesn’t have to be a famous person. There are some things that a hero should do. They should care about others and be nice. They should be strict. They should be a good role model. If they can run a family, that would be brilliant. Heroes come in all shapes and sizes and some have different hobbies. My mom is my heroine because she cares, is nice, she is strict, she is a role model, and keeps everything running.

My Hero By: Aidan Overfield Who is your hero? Mine is my grandpa, Because he is always there for me when I need someone I can talk to. Read on to learn more about my hero. One reason my grandpa is my hero is because he loves to play games with me. His favorite game is basketball. He even beats my brother and I on a team. He also likes football. He is the best at it. He likes to throw the football the most. When my brother and I play he is the referee. My grandpa is not only good at sports, he is also good at making people laugh. He loves to confuse waitresses, but mostly my grandma. She always gets confused around him. Another reason is because I do not have a dad and he is like a dad to me, not just my grandpa. Another reason is because he takes me to my soccer games when my mom can not go. He likes to watch football games. Just like me! When I am having a bad day and I need some one to talk to he is the first person on my mind to call and talk to him about it. That way I can get it off my mind so I can do other things with out having to think about it. My grandpa lets me go to work with him on “Take Your Child to Work Day” because my mom can not take me. I think my grandpa is a lot of people’s hero. When I was in the punt, pass, and kick at Thiel college my brother Aaron would not help me practice for it so my grandpa did. For Christmas we were deacons. I passed out the candles and he passed out the bulletins. When I was little I remember I would not cry unless my grandpa was there or my mom but usually it was my grandpa. When I was little my grandpa would take me during the day to do meals with him. When I got older he did not do it a lot unless I did not have school and was at his house. All the time now I see my grandpa but I do not cry. Now he is in the hall of fame and now he likes to do stuff like meals on wheels and other stuff he did with me when I was a kid. I really appreciate my hero. So now you know about my hero and why my grandpa is my hero.

My Heroine By: Krista Simcoe Do you have a hero or a heroine? I do and she is my mom. In the next couple paragraphs I will tell you about her. I think my mom is a perfect example of a heroine, because she always helps me. When I am sick, she helps me feel better. I feel she is a true heroine. When I got my head cracked open she was right by me. I am so proud of her and relaxed when she tries to help me. I remember when I broke my leg open she was there. And the time I was going to get my tooth pulled she was there. I feel so much better when she is there. As you can see, she is always there for me so I think she is my heroine. Did I mention she is in college to be a teacher? She also works as a student teacher at Hempfield Elementary. My mom has highly achieved in many classes at her school. I think that she tries to a ce every class and she does. When she works on her homework it is boring! But after that she helps me with my homework and she makes dinner at the same time. I love to help her after she helps me. We will usually make homemade pizza or spaghetti. When we’re done, we make dessert. When my sister and I get into fights my mom takes my side because she knows that I am not mean. But she knows Kaleigh is mean. I usually get my way. But when my sister gets her way, it usually means I did something bad. And I’m never bad. My mom takes my sister and I to the mall and it’s so much fun! Usually we go to American Eagle and to Sears. When I’m done shopping we will meet up with my mom to go to another Mall. And I like to spend time with her when I shop. Here are some more facts about my mom. She reads to my siblings and me when we want her to. She acts all funny and sometimes odd, but it’s a funny kind of odd. She is also very active. I know a lot about my mom, because she spends lots of time with me and loves me. Well now you know a lot about my mom and me. So here is a question for you. Do you think my mom is a heroine?
