Premium member Presentation Transcript The Timeline Of Patsy Mink: The Timeline Of Patsy Mink Illustrated By: D.jeanne Glaser PowerPoint By: Jasmine ~n~ Emily 1927: 1927 Pasty Takemoto Mink was born on the island of Maui, Hawaii. 1943: 1943 Patsy Mink was elected first female student body president of her high school. 1948: 1948 Pasty Mink graduated from the University of Hawaii High School. 1951: 1951 Patsy Mink earned her law degree at University of Chicago; married John Mink. 1953: 1953 Pasty Mink became first Japanese American female lawyer in Hawaii’s history. 1956: 1956 Patsy Mink became first Japanese American woman in Hawaii’s House of Representatives. 1958, 1962: 1958, 1962 Pasty Mink was elected to Hawaii’s Senate. 1964: 1964 Patsy Mink was the first woman of color elected to U.S. Congress; served six consecutive terms. 1971: 1971 Pasty Mink began to work on Title IX. 1972: 1972 President Richard Nixon signed Title IX into law. 1977: 1977 Pasty Mink retired from the U.S. Congress. 1990: 1990 Patsy Mink returned to U.S House of Representatives continued to protect Title IX. 2002: 2002 Pasty Mink died while in her office.Slide 15: THE END !!!!!!
