To the Women in my Life A Mother’s Day Tribute May 11, 2008

In the beginning there was... : 

In the beginning there was... Mom

Wisdom and Compassion : 

Wisdom and Compassion Mom left many enduring, important impressions on me. I learned early that she had a keen understanding of how to treat people fairly and with compassion. I only wish I were better at following her example.

Humility and Action : 

Humility and Action Mom is very humble. She will look to herself as a cause for someone’s disappointment, confusion, or angst—maybe to a fault. She will then look toward doing what she can to alleviate, even if she wasn’t a cause at all. If I could choose one fault to have in life, this would be a good option.

Ardent and Interested : 

Ardent and Interested Mom is good at showing that you matter. Either she is very good at faking it, or she has an amazing ability to be enthusiastically interested in the goings on in the lives of those around her—either way, it is a valuable and appreciated trait. I think she genuinely means it most of the time, too (which is more often than most).

On this Mother’s Day : 

On this Mother’s Day I hope this tribute to Mom begins to express my admiration and love for her. I hope she never doubts her value as a mother in my life—at the very least, not to mention the lives of others. Mom, I love you, and whish you a Happy Mother’s Day.

It Took a While to Get Here : 

It Took a While to Get Here Our first didn’t come as quickly as planned, but once she did, My Wife became the mother I knew she would be…except she was even better. Of course, I hadn’t seen anything yet.

The Dynamic Duo Arrived : 

Just when I thought I couldn’t be more impressed, My Wife had to double her effort (at least). She can’t remember much of the first few months with the twins because she gave everything she had. Yet, somehow, she found more of herself to keep on giving. The Dynamic Duo Arrived

Déjà Vu : 

Déjà Vu As I honor my own mother this day, it becomes even clearer to me that the women in my life share many qualities (including My Wife’s mother). My children are blessed with having a mother who offers so much to her children, like my mother offers me.

On This Mother’s Day : 

On This Mother’s Day I hope My Wife understands how important she is in my life, and in the life of many others. She is an inspiration. I love you and wish you a Happy Mother’s Day.
