Michael Jackson (August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009) His Life and Times A superstar who spanned pop, disco and MTV, Michael Jackson was one of the great music heroes of the late 20th century.

Jackson was known for his trademark moonwalk and crouch grabbing moves and high pitched yells. 1988 Jackson released his first autobiography, “Moon Walk”, which took four years to complete. “Moonwalk” reached the top position on The New York Times best sellers' list

1989 Jackson's success resulted in his being dubbed the "King of Pop", a nickname conceived by actress and friend Elizabeth Taylor when she presented Jackson with an "Artist of the Decade" award in 1989

From 1985 - 1990 Jackson donated $500,000 to the United Negro College Fund, and all of the profits from his single "Man in the Mirror" went to charity.

March 5, 2009: Jackson announces series of comeback concerts in London -- billed as the "final curtain" -- his first major shows for more than a decade. May 20, 2009: Jackson delays comeback shows. Concert organizers say singer's health is "fantastic". June 25, 2009: Jackson died in Los Angeles due to cardiac arrest at 2:26 pm.
