This layer of organic semiconductor material is situated between two electrodes. OLEDs are used in television screens, computer monitors, small, portable system screens such as mobile phones and PDAs, watches, advertising, information and indication. OLEDs are also used in light sources for general space illumination and in large-area light-emitting elements. There are two main families of OLEDs: those based upon small molecules and those employing polymers. Adding mobile ions to an OLED creates a Light-emitting Electrochemical Cell or LEC, which has a slightly different mode of operation. OLED displays can use either passive-matrix (PMOLED) or active-matrix addressing schemes. Active-matrix OLEDs (AMOLED) require a thin-film transistor backplane to switch each individual pixel on or off, and can make higher resolution and larger size displays possible.

http://www.ipcalculus.com info@ipcalculus.com Technology classification As shown in the above mind map OLEDs is further categorized into Type of OLEDs, Manufacturing method, Operating conditions, Manufacturing material, Application and Designing. This is the broad level classification of OLEDs. We at IPCalculus drill down each level class into niche technology areas. For example above mind map, we have categorize “Type of OLEDs”, “Operating conditions”, “Manufacturing Material” and “Application” into the niche technology areas. Similarly we drill down other categories up to the last possible level. Our client-tailored report will help to identify competitors and track their IP activity even in to the niche segment of technology areas.
